I was really impressed with this book. Not expecting it to be very much, I was surprised to find I was wrong! There's so much excitement and action built into the plot, which is about two men, one from the CIA and one from the KGB who want out of the agencies. They both are experts at UKDs, unusual killing devices. They end up teaming up and plan to kill eachother's men, because that's the only way they can get away with it. All the while there's a woman, Chalice, involved. There were some really shocking parts to this story, where I had to read it twice to believe the twist the story took. I recommend this book to anyone who likes action and suspense. I found it superb.

I found this book by accident. It was a great read, with only two minor flaws, which I attributed to the printers and not the writers. The twists & turns in the plot were very good, & the characters weren't perfect, just human. Much better story than Ludlum or Grisham have written. The contrasts & comparisons between the KGB & CIA were very good, showing that all government agencies are the same. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!

This is one of those books that you may buy to pass the time, but when you read it you find yourself totally absorbed. Luckless -- really Irving and Burkholz -- knows how to seize the reader in the first chapter and carry him/her along to one adventure after another. It's a novel about two likeable CIA inventors (of UKDs, or Unusual Killing Devices) who want to retire; but the agency won't allow that. And so they have to battle with their masters to gain their freedom. It's well-written, fast-paced, and instructive. Head and shoulders above most of the stuff in the spy thriller genre.
