Book Description

April 2, 2007
Hacker is back with a MAJOR case! A body has been found buried in one of the pristine bunkers at Augusta National and Hacker has to find the killer before the Masters tees off. But the more he digs, the more he finds that the case is leading straight back down Magnolia Lane. And the case is tangled up in the storied history of America's most famous golf club. They say the Masters doesn't really start until the back nine on Sunday...and that's when the tension of Hacker's case begins to peak! See why Golfweek has called Bartlett "the Dick Francis of golf."

3.0 out of 5 stars A So-So Story, July 6, 2007
This review is from: Death in a Green Jacket (Paperback)
The buyers for Bartlett's "Hacker" novels are golf nuts (yes, I'm one) who read virtually anything on the subject of golf. This is the fourth in the series and I have read two of his earlier efforts. This is far and away his best so far and it still only reaches the so-so category. But to give credit where credit is due, he really is improving as a writer. Much more and better detail and a weaving of historically accurate information within the fictionalized story. If there is one thing that is truly needed, it is a better editor. Halfway down page 218 Hacker is told to meet a killer at 7pm and by the bottom of the page the time has somehow changed to 6pm. Was the killer confused? On page 235 Tiger Woods is paired with Ernie Els as the final group in the final round of the Masters. Yet, by page 244 Woods is now paired with a Casey O'Shea in the final round. This kind of inconsistency plagues Bartlett's books. He would do well to have someone proofread prior to publishing.
