Kno's (DJ from Cunninlynguists for those new to CL) first solo album (with plenty of help from regulars like Deacon and Natti) is everything you'd expect and more. What you'd expect is elite production from one of, if not the best, in the game. He calls himself the Emo Premo on one of the tracks, but I see him more as the Emo Stoupe from Jedi Mind Tricks and to me Stoupe is the only one out there who can compete with Kno when it comes to production. The beats and samples are haunting and addicting. I need to find a new CD to cop now b/c I'm in danger of killing this one b/c I can't stop listening to it. It's only 13 tracks, but there are zero skips, so it's better as shorter with no wasted space. I read that it's a concept album about the inevitability of death and the concept aspect shows in how well the album flows start to finish.
If you know CL, then you'd expect elite quality production from Kno, but what surprises is his lyrics and rhyming. He always held is own in the earlier CL stuff, but in limited doses preferring to stick mostly to the beats, so I wasn't sure how he would do carrying an album. Simple to say he killed it and his lyrics and voice worked perfect with the production to make the whole CD that much tighter.
Too early to say yet, but this has the chance to eclipse CunninLynguist's A Piece of Strange, which to me is a masterpiece. If you haven't copped this yet, STOP SLEEPIN, and get this yesterday...

Let me first say that I've been a CunninLynguists fan for a long time. I had the opportunity to see them live many years ago in Atlanta at a small venue and the energy in that place, and performance, was something I will never forget. Having said all of that, their newest album, Oneirology, was very disappointing to me. I only really loved two songs off of there, "Dreams" and "Get Ignorant". What this solo album by Kno is though, is anything but disappointing! Completely fantastic productions on almost every song and the flow is excellent as well. I was also completely blown away at the fact that Kno samples Jiddu Krishnamurti on a few of the songs (Jiddu was a very influential guru who had interesting ideas on life, death, and consciousness).

-Graveyard
-I Wish I Were Dead (I agree with another reviewer that Kno's verse on here is kind of disappointing; it would have been better if he had pretended to be a zombie or something, which the verse hints at in the beginning, but this is still one of the best songs on the album)
-The New Day (Death Has No Meaning) - no rapping on this one but he samples Jiddu here as well, and the beat is freakin phenomenal
Please support such a masterful production and buy this album (these guys aren't exactly mainstream and beautiful work like this should be recognized and rewarded).

90% amazing
but there are a few verses by KNO that make me a little uncomfortable. The track about him being in the hospital is a little weak, but overall this is a great album.

This album is just amazing... Kno is easily one of the best (THE best imo) producers in music. This is his debut album and it delivers in every aspect. Read more
