4.0 out of 5 stars Another installment in the Kate Kennedy series, April 3, 2008
This is another installment of the Kate Kennedy senior sleuth mystery series. Although I am no way near to being a senior myself, I have read them all and thoroughly enjoy them.

I could understand why this installment may not seem interesting to some, because one really needs to read all the prior books to understand the history and why certain elements of the story are important.

One of the best characters is Marlene, Kate's long-time best friend. She is colorful and a very human and "real" character. Kate is a widow who's having a lot of trouble not dwelling on her husband Charlie's untimely death and her move to Florida. She is a lovable character because she has real issues that she deals with like getting older and still being vital and "useful". The best part of the story is the incredible history she and Marlene share and the give and take of a true relationship. It is hard to find anyone in this modern day that has had a long-term friendship. It is an excellent example of loyalty; even though Marlene can get on Kate's nerves and infuriate her and vie-versa, they still come back to being friends. It shows that relationships are hard and they are work, but a true friendship is not disposable. I would definitely recommends this series!

1.0 out of 5 stars WHO IS WHO???? & WHO CARES !!!!!, December 31, 2007
I would agree with every thing the previous REVIEWER said about this book. Maybe I missed something but I kept mixing up who was who. The Surfers were all detestable, no redeeming qualities to give a hoot about any of them. Why the silly Grand-daughter would fall for one of them was a mystery. And who was Diamond Lil ???? It was a real chore to finish this dull story. I also thought it was in poor taste to throw in the story line (taken from News headlines) of the frantic Mother searching for her missing Daughter while she was on a Mexico trip with other classmates. NO HUMOR IN THIS NORA CHARLES COZY MYSTERY !*!*!

I was disappointed in this book, as it really didn't "catch" my attention as I had hoped, and therefore, wasn't as enjoyable as I had thought it would be... just a run of the mill mystery, as far as I was concerned, not enough humor to be humorous, and not enough mystery to be mysterious. Just sort of drug out, and I had to force myself to finish it.
