October, 2001. As Chief Superintendant Michele Ferrara is driving to work through the busy streets of Florence, a bomb explodes, hitting his car and putting him in hospital. The investigation focuses immediately on terrorism - but it's not long before someone suggests Ferrara himself could have been the target. He did, after all, just imprison notorious mafia boss Salvatore Laprua. A week later another bomb explodes, bringing tragedy for Ferrara and a determination to find those responsible.
