Another great book from Michele Guittari. His knowledge of his subject is amazing.
I would recommend this book, and the author, to anyone interested in the workings of the Mafia, and the Italian police

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic twist, solid writing, October 1, 2011

This is the third Michele Guittari book that I've read. He sometimes gets bogged down in police procedure (the first quarter of the book was slow) and the writing is sometimes a bit pedestrian (hard to know if that's the translation though), but he managed to pull off one heck of an amazing twist in this book, and the latter third of the book was a real page-turner. Highly recommend, particularly if you'd like to know more about the Italian police.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Inside Politics of Italian Crime from a True Insider, September 25, 2011
While in Rome a few weeks ago, I had the good fortune of being introduced to Michele Guittari and his novel, A Death in Tuscany. Impressed greatly with his firsthand knowledge of Italian police and crime matters, I purchased The Death of a Mafia Don while I was in the Eternal City. I'm delighted that I did, as this novelist does such a brilliant job of creating an intriguing murder mystery while immersing us in the real-world reality of the police who confront these challenges every day. It certainly didn't hurt that I was able to enjoy this wonderful novel while in Mr. Guittari's backyard. If you enjoy crime, leavened with the presence of a likeable, but multi-dimensional main character, and you want it all set amid the wonders of Italy, you can't go wrong.
