5.0 out of 5 stars metal at its best
what more can you say? metallica is on the money with this one. i believe they used older amps and guitars on this cd. they went back to the basics of who they were, and made a very good cd. every track is good in its own way,so its hard to say which one is the best. the quality of the recording is top shelf. also they played very well recording this cd. in my opinion this...

3.0 out of 5 stars not sold on this back to old school idea!
this cd is definitly miles apart from st.anger but it sounds like song parts they trashed 17 years ago the songs don't gel together well it rocks and grooves but then it is something totaly different in a second.there is no solid vib it like the mismatched song parts from the first 5 cds in this make it or break it effort.did they forget how to jam?
do us a favor...

No matter what you do, someone will always complain. People before were complaining how Metallica doesn't sound like they did in the old days. Now they do, and people yet still complain. "The Day That Never Comes is a rip off of One and Fade To Black!" How exactly do you rip off your own songs? People will continue to complain no matter what. Fantastic album.

this is an improvement but this sound like left over riffs from 30 different old metallica song kill em all to st anguished i can't write new songs.this is becoming a sad old horse that may need putting out of missery.it's no surprise why jason left because i would have aroud load/reload era of writting?this cd just sounds like it was hashed together from old song parts for better or worse!?
