A favorite of mine, a guilty pleasure for friend's moms,

Contrary to what a previous poster said, ATM was a pop-punk trio from the outskirts of Chicago. I saw them twice live before they broke up, and they truly were an awesome band, and really great guys (I chatted with them in a Subway before a show once:) If you want a cd you can listen to the whole way thru without getting bored or sick of, this is definitely a good pick. Actually, that can be said for any of their cds, which makes it hard to pick a favorite. It's true that the singer Rick is kinda nasal, but if that bothers you, be comforted that the other guitarist Tony takes lead vocals on some songs. They're a band that appeals to a wide variety of people, be it for their original songs or their covers--a cover song is on each cd, and Taking Back the Covers is an all cover songs cd featuring popular girl anthems like "B*tch", "Nothing Compares 2 U" and "Hero". I've played them while in college and had random people ask me about them, given copies to friends and been told that their mom stole it and wouldn't give it back, can they have another, etc. just to show their appeal. Check out www.a-t-m.net for a list of their other cds and compilations they've been on. And DEFINITELY buy this cd! The only downside is knowing that they split up so we can't expect anything new :(

Contrary to the lamer "ATM is the best pop punk band ever!" people, The measure of all things is not their first album. If you really want to go back to the beginning, pick up "No Fun Intended" on Lab Rat records. Then you'll get the reference on "Does your head hurt? cuz it's killin me.." about the song "Three" The cd really is great.. but i'm tired of people totally ignoring what is so glaringly absent on the amazon site and just assuming "The measure of all things" is first.. cause it's not. But this cd is definitely well worth your money and ATM is an excellent band.

R.I.P. ATM,

Amazing Transparent Man broke up recently. That's a shame, because this underground California pop-punk band showed a lot of potential. Their music isn't for everyone - it's pure punk-pop, and the singer has a slightly nasal voice that might not appeal to some, but fans of Ten Foot Pole, Nerf Herder or old-school blink-182 will find a lot to like here.
