From Booklist
Although Faith Cassidy has appeared in short stories, this is the first novel featuring the actress-turned-therapist. When Faith's Los Angeles house is robbed and a young gang member is found murdered on her street--wearing her stolen jacket--she decides to form a Neighborhood Watch group to combat drug activity. Getting her eclectic assortment of neighbors to work together isn't easy, especially because they aren't all against drugs, but Faith perseveres. In the meantime, she runs into old flame Kirby at a party and soon discovers that he has a major drug problem. Could Kirby or his druggy friends be connected to the criminal activity in her neighborhood? The idea of an actress who can no longer get work and switches to sleuthing is a creative premise, and Faith makes an interesting, multifaceted protagonist. Kirby, however, is such an obnoxious character that readers will feel little sympathy for his problems. Give this one a chance; it could become a good series. Jenny McLarin
