More About the Author

I was born in East Texas and spent most of my life there, principally around the Bryan and College Station area. I moved to Austin, Texas, in 2002 and shortly thereafter began writing The Bill Travis Mystery series. I currently live in Austin with my lovely wife, Sallie, and two cats and two dogs.

While my first love is reading and writing, I also play both classical violin and country fiddle. I also draw, paint and take some pretty decent pictures.

Although I began writing in earnest in 1986, I have actually been creatively writing far longer than that.

I have been heavily influenced by the many writers I have come into contact with throughout my life, many of whom are gone now, and by countless more that I have met only through the medium of their books. That's right, I am also a voracious reader, mostly of science fiction, not wanting to be unduly influenced by others in my chosen genre. However, I enjoy books of all kinds. The essential element, as always, is a good story.

George Wier's "Death On The Pedernales" is the fifth in the Bill Travis series and it does not disappoint. In this book Bill is taking flying lessons with the thought of teaching his kids the joys of flying that he experiences every time he is in the air. He lands at a small Texas airport to the scenes of flashing lights, multi-law enforcement and ambulances. He learns that his pilot instructor's thought of as a father has been murdered. The head of the local law enforcement ropes him into lending a hand in this thrilling who-done-it mystery. As with the previous Bill Travis mysteries, he has more suspects than he can handle, forced to take on a temporary Ranger status he investigates in Bill fashion and by the end you're saying `didn't see that one coming, no don't end, and when is the next book do to be out'?

Whether you are a fan of the Bill Travis series or a first timer, you will not be disappointed. Not only will you not be disappointed but mostly likely you will turn to the Kindle page and buy every book in the series.
