Hyatt goes Gonzo in the Wild Wild West,
By CR (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Death of Rock 'n' Roll: A Biography of Darrell Breedlove (Paperback)
Well written, entertaining and romantic. This is a story of youthful ideals clashing with the decadence of adulthood. It's a tale of struggle involving politics, gun slinging, and of course love. I found myself reading it very quickly, curious and excited about what comes next.

Ryan Hyatt creates landscape/portraiture in words with Death of Rock n Roll,
By Marisa LeBlanc (Melody Acres, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Death of Rock 'n' Roll: A Biography of Darrell Breedlove (Paperback)
Hyatt plays up every cliche that I love to hate about Arizona and Los Angeles while maintaining a homesick reverence for their quirks. Even better, within the twists and turns of the plot are interludes of character revelation: Hyatt's insights on the dynamics of the human mind on its own and with family, friends and lovers are shockingly intimate. I look forward to his next novel, having had this taste of what I would describe as a combination of landscape and portraiture in words.

The Real Deal,

This review is from: The Death of Rock 'n' Roll: A Biography of Darrell Breedlove (Paperback)
Captivating from the start, this turned out to be a fast-paced, emotional ride with real insight into corruption, rebellion, chasing life to the edge, and most importantly: Rock and Roll! Darrell is a true-handed hero in a story that takes us on a present day tour from cowboy justice in Arizona to the no bullschit realities of the Hollywood Dream. The Death of Rock n Roll, was highly recommended to me and is well worth reading!

Juxtaposition,
By Ron from Arizona "Ron" (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Death of Rock 'n' Roll: A Biography of Darrell Breedlove (Paperback)
This book, in fast-paced manner, demonstrates the conflicts of a young artist in a tough world, all while he seeks the real meaning of life. The book starts in Tucson, a city I'm familiar with, and proceeds to L.A. The characters are developed sufficiently to convey the story, not overdevloped to the point of distraction. The book does move along and it's an easy, one set down read. The ending is a surprise, so don't think you have it figured out!

Drugs, rock 'n' roll, family feuds, family fortunes and misfortunes, and a gunfight, all in a stretch of the desert Southwest from Tucson, AZ to Los Angeles, CA. An exciting read indeed!
