I like this album. It might not be heir best, but I like it. I'm aware that Accept's golden years are behind , but somehow they managed to stay true to their roots, and sound modern, without seeling out. "Death Row" is 100% Accept. As usual, you have different tempos and moods. From the opener "Death Row" (ten years back it could have been a Pantera cover), that it's not the tipycally fast opener, to songs like "Bad Habits Die Hard", where the party riffs appear. There are fast songs, like "Sodom and Gomorra", or "Bad Religion", but nos as fast as "Fast as a shark" or "Objection overruled"; more like "Sick dirty and mean", or "This one's for you". 15 songs seem too much, and there could be some fillers but, hey!, the more the better!!. The guys, as usual, do what they do best, rock hard!!!! The songs have cool solos and changes of rhythms , and, in general, they all sound alike, with the same vibe. This is why the album may sound too repetitive in some passages. But in this repetitiveness, songs like "Death Row", "Dead On", "Stone Evil", "Bad Religion" or "Pomp and circunstance"(great romantic epic instrumental!) stand out, and make this album worth buying. "Death Row" (the album) doesn't have the magic of their golden years' releases but, as I said before, it's 100% Accept.

As all Accept releases, this one is one of the pinnacles of Power Metal. It is notably heavier and more rhythmic than the other Accept albums, a la Pantera. The only drawback to the album is the number of tracks (15) and the presence of a similar vibe through most of the tracks. However, that said, it is less melody-oriented and more riff-oriented, and at times can be *gasp* boring.

The high points of the album are in the aggressive songs, with thunderous drumming and a heavy sound. Guitarist Wolf Hoffman displays some tricks he's learned in the decade since "Balls to the Wall," notably harmonic / tremolo tricks and dive bombs.

While not thier best album in my opinion, certainly it boldly went where no one had gone before. This is pure metal plain and simple. A must for every Accept fan out there and for those of you who are not fans, you should be. One of the great metal bands of the 80's.
