Editorial Reviews

When star RubberTubber saleswoman Agatha Ruby is shot down in cold blood during her morning jog, the police hone in on the suspects--all 200 of them. Seems that Aggie lived in a small town (pop. 200) and all of them knew her personally. Just about all of them also had a reason to kill her. See if you can figure it out.

Customer Reviews

Too many other good movies to view to waste my time on this one.

For a low budget movie there were some good performances here and some good direction.

This is a low-budget indie film and that’s one of the best things about it.

If you’ve ever been referred to as a movie snob, please avoid this movie at all costs. This is a low-budget indie film and that’s one of the best things about it. The first time I saw it with some friends, we had no idea what it was - it had been recommended by another friend. From the opening credits to the end we were in stitches. At a few points, we almost had to pause the DVD to catch our breath.

This movie's not for everyone. If you're the type who likes to get weird, funny movies and hang out until 4:00 am acting goofy with your friends having some laughs, you'll enjoy this movie. If you're looking for jaw-dropping special effects and standard run-of-the-mill sight gags, look elsewhere.

The storyline with a twist at the end was cute. Although entertaining it made me stop and rethink the containers I use!

This is a fun parody of the murder mystery genre, set "way back" in the 1990s. The film has the breezy, tongue-in-cheek charm of an intentionally low-budget production. Picture the old TV show "Murder She Wrote" but with an entire cast who got to pick their own costumes and had fun doing it. There's nothing gruesome or scary, everyone is a suspect, and there are some memorably funny characters; for example, the FBI specialist whose lines consist almost entirely of allergic grunts and snuffles. I especially enjoyed the fact that the entire movie is narrated by the murder victim herself; she seems to be enjoying the mystery as much as anyone. The more you enjoy police/ detective/ murder movies and TV, the more you'll enjoy this send-up.

I happened to catch this movie through an early showing given at a movie house in Florida. The audience laughed and had a good time with the film, myself included. The mystery plot was a good backbone to the movie, it reminded me a little of the old 'Ellery Queen' mysteries of the 70's. Melissa Papp was a good choice for the lead although now I see more of June Bass and the other supporting characters in Disney Channel shows and Showtime.

I bought the online movie to see it once more and probably will buy the movie to keep. It is not a movie to watch and think about, it is a movie to watch and enjoy!

Watching this was a most enjoyable exerience. As I progressed through the work, I was struck by it's subtlety. It is low key with humor found in the most mundane household goods and experiences, yet with an undercurrent of Film Noire meets lighthearted corny modern including a femme fatale with an interesting twist on the victim. If all Indies were this good, there would be no need for the big commercial studios.

I came across this gem at a great film festival in Venice, California. Death of a Saleswoman is a stylized riddle, wrapped in a satirical mystery, inside an retro enigma. Smart and clean-witted, it will make you long for a time when folks still secretly envied their neighbors, getting away with murder was simple and people understood the value of non-disposable plastic storage. Totally check this one out!

I first saw this movie at a Women in Film event. I thought it was very Waiting-for-Guffman-esque with its deadpan look at the ladies who sell through product parties and pyramid marketing schemes. All the emotions around social status, professional rivalry, jealousy, and self-worth ultimately exposed as the banality of pointless suburban life and death.

This was (oddly for a crime themed story) a bright, cheery and uplifting movie. It is a really original work and owing to the mixed genre aspect a challenging task to carry out well. It is something that I will have on my list of movies to put on when I have guests round and need to entertain them (I do this to enjoy their reactions). It deserves its stars!
