5.0 out of 5 stars Another classic, October 21, 2009
This review is from: Death Threat (Audio CD)
Love it! I have to say that, of the songs on this album, two of them (I refuse to say which) are not as strong as the others. That said, to put out an album with 8 songs that are as memorable and stirring as they are original is worth 5 stars and well worth the costly price of getting yourself an actual copy of the CD.

Some say they're returning to their roots here, but I think it's as innovative as anything they've done. Comparing it with Confessions or I See... will reveal that they aren't covering old ground again, but forging in a new direction, as they've always been doing--while maintaining that common thread of sass, penache and sleaziness that can be found in all their works.

I love you guys! You're an inspiration to me!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sex, Kult & Rock N' Roll!!, May 11, 2010

Omega "Cannibal Song" (Kansas City, MO, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Death Threat (Audio CD)
TKK continue to evolve their sound with Death Threat, taking a more rock 'n roll approach compared to the dancier/disco sound of their last album, "The Filthiest Show In Town".

Fans of earlier TKK will like Invasion (of the ultra modelz) - as this hearkens back to the bands earlier and much darker sound. It would fit in perfectly on Confessions Of A Knife.

They use more guitar here than they have in recent albums - tracks like the swaggering Foxxxy Rockit and the heavy industrial rock of Witchpunkrockstar show that this band is in fine form and far from extinct. Bottoms Up is my favorite track, as it builds up to a wailing, Jimi Hendrix-esque guitar solo at the end - then slowly fading into the dizzy disco of Psychik Yoga, an instrumental track buzzing with thick synthesizers and strange incantations.

It seems that the Bomb Gang Girls are all but absent on this album - after several listens, I cant find any female vocals in the mix. The band still incorporates its b-movie sampling and trademark sleazy sound here. All in all, another great offering from a great band - this one belongs in every fans kollection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrill Kill Threat!, July 3, 2011

This review is from: Death Threat (Audio CD)
How do they do it??? How do they mix so many different genres of music so seamlessly, yet always manage to stay dangerous and sexy? Thrill Kill's back with "Death Threat" and I think it takes the perfect snapshot of their material both early and recent. Some of the tracks on this album haven't been this raw and edgy sounding since "A Crime For All Seasons" and I love that! Having just caught them live in concert last night, I gotta say, the new songs hold up well and get the crowd dancing, pushing and pitting right on par with the older ones! As eclectic as their music is, their crowd is just as unique: Goths, Punks, Heshers, Leather Boys/Girls, and freaks of all kinds gather all over the world for the kings of grindhouse gutter sleaze! Newbies, it's never to late to join the Kult, and Death Threat is actually a great place to start! Definitely. Buy!
