loved it! liked the way you knew something terrible happened...but no gory details...left something to the imagination. sweet story line and characters. for an 84 year old woman's first novel it was great...any more in the future?

By S. Clement on April 24, 2008
Format: Hardcover
Delightful, imaginative and fun to read. This clever little mystery never seems to bog down and has some interesting suprises along the way. There is violence, but it is never gratuitous, and most of the time, it is the fear that grips our heroine that we experience. Easy to put oneself in her position. There is a disciplined understatement in this regard, which I like very much. That being said, it is not so staid as the English drawing room mysteries. It seems to strike a rather nice balance between that and the more graphic mystery/ suspense novels that I have tended to read. The love story that is interwoven is actually quite proper, yet real; it develops without being forced. It strikes me as a more genuine sort of relationship than in many novels that contain sexually explicit material as a substitute for something real. How totally refreshing!

Nicely conceived plot; lovely development; memorable characters.

KUDOS!

I recommmend it and hope Ms Rinard will not keep us waiting too long for the next book.

From the opening lines until the last page, the reader follows an active plot with active characters. Suave, sweet, sullen, and savvy characters are woven into the action with an interesting dynamic, creating the necessary questions and mystery demanded of the romantic suspense - or the suspenseful romance. The novel serves up both well.

This is a wonderful book, never slow moving, and is one that you hate to put down. This writer has a wonderful imagination and I am eagerly awaiting her next book.
