5.0 out of 5 stars My Son Loves It, February 19, 2010
By
Scott Ross (Prosper, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Death Trap (Robot Wars, Book 1) (Paperback)
I bought this book for my 11 year old son. He is a voracious reader and a good judge of books. He loved this book. I bought him several "Book #1s" from different series at the same time to see which he would like best and want to pursue. Robot Wars was by far his favorite, and he's asking me to order the rest of the series immediately. He liked it so much that he read the entire book in less than 3 hours.

5.0 out of 5 stars WARNING...., March 25, 2010
This review is from: Death Trap (Robot Wars, Book 1) (Paperback)
I did not read this series of books but my son did. He loved them, they are still one of his favorites. The reason I am writing this review as a warning is because this is simply a republished and retitled set of books that was previously published as "The Mars Diaries." My son has them under the original titles. I bought him book one in the Robot Wars series thinking it was a continuation since the inside cover says Tyce's saga continues but we found out when I got the book that was not the the case. The first two of the original titles are in the first of the revamped book.

It would have been nice to have the fact that this is the same series under a new title on the book. I was disappointed with Tyndale for doing that.

Other than that, the books themselves are very, very good according to my son who loves them. That was why he was so excited when he thought he would be able to get more stories about Tyce.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read!, August 25, 2009
This review is from: Death Trap (Robot Wars, Book 1) (Paperback)
I'm a forty-something Mom and really enjoyed this book! It probably is geared toward the tween/teen group, but I thought the story was engaging and excellent! I also liked how the author brought God into the story line in a very realistic way.

I like Science Fiction, but I honestly believe anyone would like this story. The twists and turns keep you reading (even when you should be sleeping!) and now I'm anxious to read the next book in the series.

I highly recommend this book for you or any young person in your life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read for parents also, July 17, 2009
This review is from: Death Trap (Robot Wars, Book 1) (Paperback)
I purchased for my 12 year old son for summer reading. Since he was "too busy" to read it, I gave it a try and thoroughly enjoyed it. Quick and easy to read with enjoyable characters and plot twists. I have purchased book two and plan to get the rest of the series as it is published in late 2009.

After hearing me speak so favorably of the book, my soon has decided he now has time for it. I'm sure he will enjoy as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, especially for boys, December 10, 2009
This review is from: Death Trap (Robot Wars, Book 1) (Paperback)
I am always looking for good books that will capture the interest of my 8 and 10 year old boys. "Death Trap" drew them in from the very beginning. The title alone makes them want to give the book a shot (and not be intimidated by the lack of pictures or number of pages). I was very surprised when my 10yo finished this 257 page book in only 2 days!

The relationships between the characters and the exciting plot make this book enjoyable for the older kid set and parents as well. I personally enjoyed reading about Tyce's adventure and appreciate how his struggle to believe in God was woven into the story in a subtle and natural manner. There was no overt religiosity or preaching, but rather a plain and personal reconciliation of faith and science in the different characters.

We will definitely be purchasing the other books in the Robot Wars series!
