From the Inside Flap

The doctor's diagnosis for April Lancaster is not good. April has a brain tumor which cannot be operated on. She's only 18, and her future is uncertain. But when she meets Mark Gianni, a 21-year-old with a passion for car racing, things change.

Mark is handsome and charming--and has cystic fibrosis. Despite herself, April falls completely in love with him. April  says yes when Mark asks her to marry him. But a racing accident aggravates Mark's CF, and April must make a decision that will change the course of her life forever. --This text refers to the Mass Market Paperback edition.

Once they were in the privacy of her room, Chris took her in his arms and kissed her.  "I hate to leave you for a whole week." The soccer team was playing a tournament in Pennsylvania over the break.

"Go have a good time.  But not too good a time."

He stayed for another hour before he kissed her goodbye.

Alone, she felt the gloom return.  It would be another couple of hours before her parents would arrive.  Stop acting like a baby, she told herself.  This isn't like before.  You're seventeen now, not five.

She was sitting up in her bed clicking through the TV channels with the remote control when someone rapped on her door.  "Come in," she called.

The door slowly opened, and the boy from the rec room stood there.  "Hi," he said with a sunny grin.

"Do I know you?" she asked.

"Mark Gianni." He held out his hand.

She took it cautiously.  His grip was warm, his palm rough.  He was tall and had curling dark brown hair and intense deep brown eyes.  But Kelli had been right.  He was thin, almost gaunt.  "And you're here because...?" She allowed the sentence to trail.

"Because I want you to know that you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.  And I thought I should introduce myself.  I mean, we should get to know each other.  Since you're the girl I intend to marry." --This text refers to the Mass Market Paperback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning and realistic story! Similar to my own!, December 7, 1998
By A Customer
When I was first drawn to this book, it was shortely after I had lost my own boyfriend to cystic fibrosis. What stunned me most was reading the very end. It was as if Lurlene McDaniel had written my own story! Just three months before this book was published, I had watched my own boyfriend suffer painfully from CF and the day before his death, we were united in marriage in ICU. It was absolutely heart-wrenching but beautiful all the same. So you can imagine my shock and suprise when I found this book on the bookshelves of stores, I was literally speechless. It's a beautiful story I would recommand to everyone. It's a story that resembles my own life.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best, March 3, 2000
By A Customer
This was the first book that I read by Lurlene McDaniel, and I picked it up totally by chance. But I am so glad I did. If you're reading this review right now, you probably know a little something about Lurlene McDaniel. First of all, her books are tearjerkers, there's no way around it. But they are extremly well written and make you feel almost every emotion known to man. And they are touching. So reader, you know Ms. McDaniel, and my advice to you is read this book. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you fall completely in love.

If you liked this book, try Don't Die My Love, Saving Jessica, The Girl Death Left Behind, all the One Last Wish books and The Legacy: Making Wishes Come True- all by Lurlene McDaniel

If you're a romantic teen like me, I suggest all of Julie Garwood's books Whitney, My Love; Paradise; Until You; Almost Heaven; Perfect by Judith McNaught The Heiress by Jude Devoraux All of Amanda Quick's (AKA Jane Ayne Krentz) books

Happy Readings :)
