One of the most anticipated and talked about reunions of 2008 was without a doubt the reformation of Syracuse NY-based quintet EARTH CRISIS. The pioneers of the hardcore, straight edge movement have now officially made the decision to carry on with the band fulltime and are proud to announce a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records. Editorial Reviews

2009 reunion album from the pioneers of the Straight Edge Hardcore movement, their studio release in nearly a decade. The group have crafted the most angst ridden and unrelenting offering of their already stellar career and this effort is going to serve as a much needed wake up call to the masses. To The Death was self produced with the acclaimed Tue Madsen (Sick of It All, August Burns Red) handling mixing and mastering duties. Frontman Karl Buechner's astounding range and vocal depth has positioned him as one of the strongest voices in Rock. Guitarists Scott Crouse and Erick Edwards' sometimes pulverizing and jagged, sometimes soothing sonic barrages round out the musical savagery. --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Earth Crisis is back!, June 12, 2009
This review is from: To the Death (Audio CD)
for a bunch of guys claiming to be vegans, they sure play music with some meat to it. like their 1998 album "Breed The Killers" this album revolves around problems around the globe. the song "Security Threat No. 1" deals with terrorism and the song "To Ashes" speaks out against drugs. there also seems to be variations in their guitar playing on this release, like some lead guitar work. I cannot believe they have been dormant for 8 years. "To The Death" is a good solid album, and the instrumental is a good touch too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A crushing return...., May 5, 2009

This review is from: To the Death (Audio CD)
Perhaps the pioneers of hardcore music as we know it today, Earth Crisis is back after nearly 10 years & WOW they havn't lost their angst-ridden fire! I've always considered their album 'Breed the Killers' as their best effort but 'To the Death' might just be the new winner...VERY heavy & in your face hardcore music, the way it should be! Whether you agree with their politics or not this is a great CD that should easily be one of the best hardcore releases of the year!

4.0 out of 5 stars a great return of earth crisis for better or worse?, May 8, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: To the Death (Audio CD)
a very solid cd they sound very good and didn't miss a step.this cd is very typical of earth crisis stlye and sound but I expected influences of slither to be in the mix more and after several side projects path of resistance and freya,I think prefer freya over this.the bass (crushing)and drum are very clear a dominating on this but the guitar have a lack of individual tone, they sound very compressed and flat to me( they playing is great but the sound leaves something to be desired)and the vox are in you face as normal.all around very aggressive and heavy cd but possibley not their best but close
