Book Description

If you have ever asked, “Why do people have to die?” then this book is for you. The answer is that no, death is not necessary, inevitable, or good. In fact, death is wrong. Death is the enemy of us all, to be fought with medicine, science, and technology. This book introduces you to the greatest, most challenging, most revolutionary movement to radically extend human lifespans so that you might not have to die at all.

You will learn about some amazingly long-lived plants and animals, recent scientific discoveries that point the way toward lengthening lifespans in humans, and simple, powerful arguments that can overcome the common excuses for death. If you have ever thought that death is unjust and should be defeated, you are not alone. Read this book, and become part of the most important quest in human history.

This book was written by the philosopher and futurist Gennady Stolyarov II and illustrated by the artist Wendy Stolyarov. It is here to show you that, no matter who you are and what you can do, there is always a way for you to help in humanity’s struggle against death.

"I thought the book was fun to read and important in what it tries to accomplish." - Zoltan Istvan, Psychology Today

Editorial Reviews

Review

  • "I thought the book was fun to read and important in what it tries to accomplish." - Psychology Today
  • "As a transhumanist, I was pleased to discover the nonfiction children's book Gennady Stolyarov II and his wife Wendy Stolyarov recently created and published." - Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies (IEET)
  • "Not too grammatically complex, and not too excruciatingly simplistic, Death is Wrong is a blunt dose of reality, quick to the punch and holding nothing back. This is the book I wish I'd have read as a young child." - The Proactionary Transhumanist
  • "The language is just saccharine enough for children to dig into, but the portentous themes will strike deep, philosophical chords in adults. The overall message is positive: The way technology is headed, we should be able to continue discovering and doing the things we love indefinitely." - Fast Company
  • "Gennady Stolyarov II and his wife Wendy Stolyarov do not believe in death. They think science and technology can solve it and, until it does, we need to begin thinking that our end is not a foregone conclusion. [...] First, they think, the cultural perception of mortality has to be changed, and the best method to achieve that goal is to begin with teaching children." - Huffington Post
  • "The book makes a philosophical case for why death is the enemy. [...] Stolyarov also bucks the idea that aging inevitably means inching closer to death. He and other life-extension advocates make a point to differentiate between 'aging,' the passage of time, and 'senescence,' the biological breakdown of the body." - Motherboard

Some information catalyzes the saving of life, like this book. If you're thinking of buying it, buy it, of course. Get a bunch of them and spread them around to kids and various children's libraries.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life is Right! April 28, 2014

This is the book I wish I read or had read to me as a kid! It really is great to see something that opens our minds to the facts of the situation of death.

All the harm that occurs is due to our compromise with time and it's death that turns the clock faster on us every day. Freedom from involuntary death will give us the time we need to enjoy life without without ever having to miss out on precious moments with the people we love. Image a new generation coming along that will have the opportunity to raise their children in optimal health while taking 20 year or so sabbatical to devote entirely to the people they bring into the world. It will be a generation like none before it and a triumph we as a species haven't yet seen.

This easy to read book will no doubt have a significant impact on the future of mankind. The end of death is coming and you'd be wise to make sure your kids have the right mindset to take their place in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Materfully Created/Brilliantly Stimulating May 4, 2014
Format:Paperback
In his debut novel, Stolyarov's "Death Is Wrong" takes what someone ought to be informed of, generally, when it comes to the history of aging, the miracle of life, and how important they are, and condenses it into a short read that even kids can comprehend. Contained within are personal experiences during Gennady's childhood, facts about long-living creatures of the world, and incredible portraits of famous thinkers alongside quotes that supercharge the main discussion and encourage the reader to think of new ideas themselves. Overall, the book goes over many reasons why living longer might just be better.

If you're a parent and would like for your children to know why an deathly fate should not be appreciated, but in fact despised for the destruction it brings, then this book should be high on your list of considerations.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great forward thinking book June 19, 2014

The book isn't too difficult to read, but is informative and interesting as well. Trans-humanism is a difficult topic and very complex for most people to grasp but the book does a good job as an introduction for those who approach such ideas that are seen as very skeptical in our current time.

As a children's book the reading requirements seem to target middle to high-school age and does make some beneficial although unrealistic- at-times expectations where such theories can go.

Nevertheless I would recommend this book as it seems to have the potential to inspire others while young to take a great challenge in understanding where technology can take us. The benefits of a younger, informed, critical generation to embrace and help develop the trans-humanist movement has massive potential. I would recommend this to children and anyone else who is interesting in reading it. Understand that we still live in a tradition-based society and many people will dismiss such notions. This book in the hands of open-minded children and families can help change the world for the better.

This is a quick read. Death is Wrong is unlike anything your child has read before. PG-13
All about how he thinks we need to work more to extending our lifespan, and having a healthy and productive long life.
I think you should read it first. It will not take you long. Then if you wish, give it to your child.

The message this book conveys is a genuinely, universally altruistic and morally right one, and may help set children's priorities sooner so they can get on the right path and hopefully learn to prioritize an education in; and foster enthusiasm in; matters of cellular and molecular biology, gerontology, biomedical engineering, so as to pursue ways to save their loved ones.

However, I do not believe it to be very engaging, this is something all children should be required to read but I don't think it will have much influence without being a required reading, without parents and teachers making the children become engaged in the utility of life extension education and technologies.

There is nothing else like this out there, yet, and the value of this book is that it allows children to circumvent years of doubting, misdirection, logical obstacles and lies pertaining to the only thing that truly matters in the known universe; the true value of the human life.
