5.0 out of 5 stars primitive telepathic native discovers tech society & war, March 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Deathgift (Mass Market Paperback)
Starts like fantasy novel, ends like soft sci-fi. Interesting switch! Singer (the main guy) discovers his society is not the only one on their planet and struggles to survive in both. Deathgift refers to his quest to avenge his murdered clan--it is this quest that leads him to the tech society and may well cost him his life.

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Deathgift (Paperback)
The central character is a boy who grows up to be a man, raised in the harshest conditions to be the strongest of his kind, living in a world of old world steel and fighting only to have his world turned upside down by a space ship crashing and devastating his life. He's rescued, thought to be one of the crew on the crashed ship. Finds himself in an alien world that is a millennium ahead of his time in a world so different, but yet its not... as he tries to figure things out, he finds his dearest friends in this new found place in persons and places he never dreamed of, understanding himself and putting his past at peace while showing the rest of his new family what living and life is truly all about.

I've had this book as long as I can remember. For myself, its almost become a yearly read. I never get tired of the story, I feel like I see something new each time I read it. As my life progresses, I can see myself in Singer and his situations.

Take it for what its worth. I read a lot of books. I always come back to this one.
