5.0 out of 5 stars Szajner's Music Masterpiece (w/ slight digital butchering), July 14, 2000
By
This review is from: Some Deaths Takes Forever (Audio CD)
Bernard Szajner is clearly one of the most original and talented electronic musicians of the 20th century. 'Some Death Forever' is, in my opinion, the greatest electronic/progressive/industrial works that I own (electronic music lovers: if you haven't heard it, you certainly should!) and features a host of great musicians (Pierre Chereze, Marc Geoffroy, Klaus Blasquiz, Bernard Paganotti, Michael Quartermain, Alain Agius, Michael Rabinowitz). However, listeners who are already very familiar with the original vinyl edition (import LP) of this musical masterpiece may find the digital remastering (or should I say, slight 'digital butchering'?) of this great work somewhat frustrating; many edits, fades and other level adjustments were made before pressing the CD. If these alterations were in fact authorized by the artist (to his satisfaction?), I could only believe that somebody ('corporate suit'?) dangled the 'Sword of Damocles' over his head! Nonetheless, this CD is a 'must own' for lovers of original and intense electronic/progressive/industrial music [album originally dedicated to Amnesty International].

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Zeuhlish synth type album, March 18, 2008

This review is from: Some Deaths Takes Forever (Audio CD)
With the help of some Magma members and other great musicians this french artist really conjures quite a unique work in Some Deaths Take Forever. Sometimes eerie, others melodic, sequencer based music (but using the devices in completely different ways than, say, J M Jarre or Tangerine Dream) with interaction of guitar, bass and vocals as well other keyboards and piano, is carefully composed and created/produced to offer the listener a kind of alternative french Eno or Larry Fast. Recommended!
