Ah, the days back when...,

Not so much a critique as a personal experience:i saw Crisis on their tour supporting this album. i was demolished. i remember my jaw falling open and staring like an idiot as Karyn took stage and proceeded to rip my brains through the top of my skull. Yes, melodramatic, but i clearly remember this. And i bought the CD at the show and got Karyn to sign it. We talked for a few minutes (with my buddy who knew ahead of time what was in store but let me be surprised) about the music, the artwork, and at the time she was working on a graphic novel (anyone know if it was ever completed/released?). This CD was in heavy rotation for me for a long time. It still gets a well-deserved spin pretty often.

Karyn Crisis is the most brilliant and origional vocalist that has EVER existed! She has a wide variety of screams, growls, and roars. Her origionality blows me away! Buy the Cd that features the most origional vocalist that has ever existed!

Absolute Best Creative Band,

This band has amazing sound and unbelievable vocals. The singer will change from a whisper to a shriek to a growl to a scream- in 5 seconds!! Lyrics are awesome, and their style is very unique- will recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of metal and female vocals. Listening to their songs brings visions of art and pain, love and mistrust. It's entertainment for your soul.

Karyn Crisis's roaring vocals would tear apart any "Upset girl with a guitar." The instrumentals are slashing beat-up metal, and the raging voice from Karyn produce a hurricane of hardcore music. This hurricane is not a force to be reckoned with. Crisis will tear through any metal band, with a vengeance. If you're looking for a ReaL Hardcore Riot Grrl(Metal) band, look no further because Crisis is it. Grr.

crisis's deathshead extermination is possibly their best album of the three so far. A bit more sophisticated than their debut 8 Convulsions, and a tad more raw than their newest The Hollowing. Whats not to love about this band? Brilliant lyrics that set a powerful mood, unique sound altogether & a powerful beautiful voice is just the icing on the cake. Their talent is definately displayed on this masterpiece of an album. I have gotten the pleasure to see them live many a time here in albany and they are by far my favorite band to see play. Buy this exquisite album & enter the world of crisis. Buy their other albums too. You won't regret it.

Karyn Crisis rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
This review is from: Deathshead Extermination (Audio CD)
If you are into super heavy music and are not afraid of a female point of view then this and all other Crisis albums are a must have. Read the reviews in "Pit" and other serious metel "zines you will find they are all in agreement about Crisis. Karyn Crisis is the voice and the author to what amounts to a sort of cryptic poetry reading, her words do not rhyme. They do not need to. Her messege of hoplessness and utter despair is so powerful that it becomes uplifting. This sounds weird but you have to hear this to believe it. Karyn was on the cover of the first issue of "Juggernought" and deservedly so. The reviews of her performances and her CD's are all possitive, as well they should be. There are no more Crisis websites. I hope this will change. Write me."Lost Johnny"

Amazing..,

"Deathshead Extermination" is one of my favorite albums, & was my first taste of Crisis. Karyn's vocals were unlike anything I'd ever heard; so raw, and ravaging, intense, and full of emotion. Crisis is like pure musicial carnage, which ironically leaves me with such a great feeling. If you like this, you should check out their other albums, especially their newest, "Like Sheep Led To Slaughter"!

Amazing...,

Its amazing that a band with this much talent and originality, not to mention style, are as seemingly unknown as them. Starting with Karyn: not just the best extreme metal vocalist, she's one of the best vocalists of any genre, period. It doesn't matter that she's a woman, she's still incredible. The guitar riffs are catchy and inventive. They create atmosphere as well as drive the songs. The drums never miss a beat, and never fail to give the song a pulse. The lyrics are grotesquely beautiful. Over all, you can't be disappointed with it.
