5.0 out of 5 stars What a surprise March 11, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game because I liked de blob for the Wii. This is absolutely the funnest DS game I have bought in ages, hands down. The graphics are beautiful, the platforming is very fun, the story is cute and it is just overall a fun title. It may be a bit too easy for the hardcore crowd, but I would still recommend it because it is so enjoyable. Alot of games that come out these days are so hard they can become frustrating, but not de blob 2. The difficulty is just right. This is a great game for anyone who enjoys platformers and works for both children and adults, can you believe it? I highly encourage anyone who has interest in this game to get it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Graphics, Great Music, Short Game Play March 19, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo DS
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I have to start by saying that once I started this game, I couldn't put it down. It was a lot of fun. But the problem was that I finished it, completely, in about 6-7 hours of play time. There is no need to go back and replay any level, there are no bonus levels for completing the game with all extras collected.

Keep in mind as well that all the images and the video shown in the Product Images above, are not from the DS version. The DS version is a much more simplified two dimensional play.

Beyond that, the graphics are great. The play with color is fun and I enjoyed changing colors just because I could. The music is just as great as the graphics - a sort of fusion jazz that changes slightly depending on the color of Blob. There are three things to get in each level: a number of citizens (Raydians) that appear in Graydian suits until you run over them (and then they change to a multitude of colors), three double music notes, and small notes. The citizens and double music notes are often hidden in small passageways or slightly out of sight areas. They are usually visible throughout the first run of any level but there were a couple of times I had to go back to find a missing item or two. You can move on to the next level without finding everything but if you get all items from a level, the level list turns gold. There are extra lives available in some levels.

The game play is controlled by the DS buttons, no stylus needed. Movement is forward and backward up and down in a 2 dimensional manner (although the graphics have visual depth, you cannot move front or back on the screen). As you progress in the game, wall jumping is really important. The basic premise is for Blob to color the grayscale world around him. Blob can change his color by jumping on color buttons.

We own this first game on the Wii. It's a super fun game and I often find myself taking turns with my children to play. :D The sequel is a great addition to the DS games my children have. Very easy to pick up and play. Ages playing game 6 yrs-adult. We all love it and have nothing bad to say.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yaaaay, more Blob! January 16, 2013
Platform for Display:Nintendo DS|Verified Purchase
Understanding that the Xbox version of Blob2 is the best version, the DS version is really a great conversion to another platform. I am a big Blob fan (can you tell), and my kids love it almost as much as I do. One of them is a teenager with a prediliction for Halo and Black Ops, the other a nine-year-old that loves Kirby, Mario, and the Lego games. We all have had a lot of fun with this DS game (though some skills are a bit too difficult for the younger child). I'd recommend this to anyone of any age. A great gift, too.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My son(6) really likes DeBlob. It is light hearted be-bopping wall to wall colorful fun for both my son and I. If I had to guess, anyone up till 8 years old would enjoy DeBlob or adults that are young at heart and want less intense fun. It's a great quick bang for the buck game that doesn't require a lot of reading abilities or parent assistance. On my mind right now cause my son is playing the Toy Story version of the Nintendo DS game and he's asking me to read what it says to him every 30 seconds or less it seems..and he can read a little..:)

Objective: Blob is a big round ball of paint that basically moves from wall to wall jumps and rolls throughout an obstacle course to paint the town. The INKT and "Inkies" (alien shaped, coke can looking creatures with a hat and one gaint eye) steal colors from objects by moving around the town. You eliminate them from stealing your towns colors by killing (hitting) them. If they are grey in color you can eliminate them no matter what color you are. If they are red you have to be red to get them. When you want to change colors you have to look for the sort of "paint cans" with legs walking around in the color that you need.

SPOILER ALERT:In the final boss battle there is a a giant Blob that you need to jump on his head when he's standing still a couple of time to defeat. After you defeat him he is tied to a rocket and shot into outer space.

If you are concerned about violence and things that are too serious this is a Really fun "E" rated game. I have this same game for my PS3 and the Nintendo 3DS..if that tells you anything. It's great bang for the buck and works well for short sporadic play at both home and on the go in the DS version. FYI: The home version enables two people to play.
