4.0 out of 5 stars Good Work with THEM, December 5, 2002
By
William J Liederbach (Indianapolis, IN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Debugging Methodology: THEM (Hardcover)
I think this book presents a good technical approach to
debugging software. I liked the style of writing in
the book, informal enough to keep the readers attention
and yet switching to a technical style when it came to
describing the debugging method and providing an
example of its practice.

Providing the reader with a list of chapter objectives
at the start of each chapter is also useful. I think
the suggestions for tests at the end of most chapters
would intrigue and help a software developer. I think
the example of an application of the THEM method to a
problem was a very good approach on the part of the
writer. I wish more technical textbooks I look at
provided such good detailed examples. I hope the author
continues to make a contribution to the literature of
our profession.

5.0 out of 5 stars Especially for self-starting programmers, January 6, 2003
This review is from: A Debugging Methodology: THEM (Hardcover)
A Debugging Methodology: THEM by software engineer Larry R. Fisher instructs the reader in the fundamentals of debugging philosophy and practice as applied to any programming language or computer. Excellent as a one-volume self-study course in cultivating and improving one's debugging skills, A Debugging Methodology features an overarching approach for successfully handling large-scale computer debugging tasks with maximum efficiency. Highly recommended, especially for self-starting programmers, A Debugging Methodology should be in every school curriculum's computer science library reference and resource collection.
