Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Ideal for personal and light industrial activities. Spring steel orthopedic boning stays for superior, firm support. The number of stays increases as belt size increases, to provide dependable support for all sizes. Two-way stretch power knit primary belt for comfort and flexibility when active. High-rise cut in front allows wearer to stand, sit, bend and crouch comfortably. Positive vertical locking system achieved with two-way stretch binding and rubberized interior stay pockets. Elastic knit cinch and shoulder straps. Shoulder straps easily adjustable from the front. Machine wash warm in mild detergent, air dry flat. How to wear: The support should be worn over the first layer of clothing--such as a shirt or t-shirt--but not over a vest or jacket. It should fit the curve of the lower back without bulk between the support and the back. The support should rest LOW on the hips, where low back pain occurs, between the navel and tailbone, over the lumbar vertebrae. Do not wear the support up high, as if it were a belt or a corset. Adjust the shoulder straps so the support hangs loosely at the level where it will be worn. If the adjustment is too short, it will cause the support to slide up on the body. The purpose of shoulder straps is to keep the support handy when worn loosely. The shoulder straps should not be so loose that they hang away from the body and could possibly become tangled in equipment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lower Back Muscles No Longer Sore, September 3, 2009

This review is from: Decade 6334 Cadet Back Support, Black, X-Large (Tools & Home Improvement)
I trim horse hooves as one of my jobs. I am bent over, sometimes for 2 hours at a time, lifting and holding horse hooves and legs, while using rasps, nippers, and an angle grinder. This puts a lot stress on my lower back muscles. This back support turned my sore back into a pain free zone, and it seems my back muscles are actually stronger from using it. Before I bought this back support, I was using a wide, military, Alice belt, which was OK, but this back support is better.

The design of this back support is good. It is kind of like a black girdle that you can wear on the outside of your clothes, sort of Madonna-style. You see the guys at Home Depot wearing these all the time, too. The materials from which it is made are good, the stitching is good, and it has several adjustments to tailor its fit to your particular body size and shape. It folds up nicely for easy storage and transport.

It is definitely worth the money I paid for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Decent Back Brace, January 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Decade 6334 Cadet Back Support, Black, X-Large (Tools & Home Improvement)
This back support brace by Decade is their middle-of-the-line back brace. I bought this one because it was affordable, but a little more substantial than the basic model. This brace has decently rigid back support, but I've seen better. The belts with better support are always more expensive however. I don't wear a support belt much, but I needed it for occasional heavy lifting at work, so I thought this one would do fine. It works well, but just remember, a back support belt/brace doesn't keep you from lifting incorrectly, only YOU can keep yourself from lifting incorrectly. This belt simply gives you additional support, and a constant reminder you can feel to lift correctly.

My husband's old support was stretched out. Looked for another. This is a great deal. My husband uses it all of the time especially for things like bringing in firewood, lefting heavy bags, etc. Good price...good product! Very well made.
