5.0 out of 5 stars Jag Panzer = Metal!!! October 15, 2003
By Ed L.
Format:Audio CD
All I have to say is this is real Heavy Metal!!!!No matter what year it is or how times may have changed, Jag Panzer forges on with a crushing 2cd release. This is what they do,like it or not. There will be no radio airplay and trends can go to hell!!!!If your a fan of real Metal like Classic Maiden,Priest,Dio,Sabbath ect....Jag Panzer is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old school power metal revisited November 21, 2008
Format:Audio CD
Not to be mistaken for a best-of collection (which is exactly what I thought I was getting when I ordered it), Jag Panzer's 2-disc Decade of the Nail Spiked Bat is actually a collection of old Jag Panzer material, re-recorded by the band's current lineup. Apparently former guitarist Joey Tafolla was blocking the reissues of the early Jag Panzer albums (1984's Ample Destruction and the Tyrant EP), so the band decided this was the best way to get these songs out to Jag Panzer fans that discovered the band during their 90's run.

I'm usually not a big fan of bands re-recording old material with a new lineup, but I never heard the originals in the first place, so this is all new to me. Better yet, it actually means we get to hear some authentic 80's American power metal with modern production values. I actually prefer this classic material to Jag Panzer's later work, so Decade of the Nail Spiked Bat turned out to be just what I needed.

I suppose this isn't going to be enough to satisfy serious Jag Panzer fans who have been waiting for official reissues of the early albums, but at least we can get a pretty good idea what the band's early sound was all about. I'd consider Decade of the Nail Spiked Bat a must-have for Jag Panzer fans, and a collection that any serious fan of the 80's metal scene should definitely check out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Solid Old-School power metal April 8, 2014
Format:Audio CD
Not bad, worth listening to for Jag Panzer fans. I would give it 2.5 stars, it's pretty much average overall though you get a lot of songs for your money. Jag Panzer has released better albums like Fourth Judgement and Mechanized Warfare. For a 2003 recording they certainly made it sound like it was recorded in the 80's.

2.0 out of 5 stars Yawn!! December 11, 2006

Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I've you like old school metal music?, you may like this? Theirs certainly nothing earth shattering here, just classic 80's style metal in abundance. The songs are ok at best, but again nothing really spectacular. I Like metal music melodic and heavy and I like singers who can actually sing. The guys who just bark or growl out the lyrics do absolutely nothing for me. Both my favourites styles are somewhat represented here as it's heavy to a point and it's melodic. I find the singers delivery to be way over the top most of the time? and the music is just ok. To be honest this cd set did absolutely nothing for me. I just found it to be lacked truly good songs. Yes it has moments here and there, but not near enough of the them I'm afraid. It's a disappointment my books.

The sound quality is decent and so is the jackets as it contains lyrics and so on.

In conclusion, it's an ok listen, but nothing exceptional. I really can't give it more than 2 stars out of 5 because the songs are just not there!
