5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful cover to personalize your device November 28, 2011
Verified Purchase
I purchased this to give my Kindle Touch a unique look, as well as to protect some of the surfaces from getting scratched. The skin is very nice to look at, and good quality, with easy to follow instructions. The material itself is a pretty good piece of plastic, and is not just a "sticker" to put on the device. This gives it a good feel to the device once applied. The adhesive is also not super sticky, allowing you a bit of opportunity to reposition the skin to make sure the fit is perfect. Which is important for the trickier front surface. But once applied, and given an opportunity to set, it forms a good bond with the Kindle itself.

The colors of the skin are vibrant, going nicely with the color of the device itself. The quality of the design is extremely high, and almost looks like a picture that has been cut out and pasted to the device. All in all, highly recommended as something to give your Kindle a distinctive look and protect the surfaces from being scratched. A very decent accessory, even at the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars No peel! Very nice. January 21, 2012
Verified Purchase
I though it was going to peel. I absolutely did. But B. Schenck is right: the skin forms an excellent bond with the kindle itself. The device looks like it was made this way. Be careful, though, about applying those little decals around the speakers. Because the edges are so slender, that is where a misalignment will be most noticeable. I defy a human being to align these suckers absolutely perfectly, 100%, but I also know that I'm the only one who notices any imperfection. The design is so vivid and arresting, the eye doesn't look for those other things. Although I hasten to qualify that last: like Aysu says, the little leaf detail at the front is not at all distracting and is very nice - possibly one of my favorite things about the haiku skin. And as B. Scheck says, the overall color scheme nicely complements the kindle's "natural" coloring as well.

For the nitpickiest of nitpicky notes, if you are someone easily distracted by weird little tactile things: the matte surface of the skin feels very nice to the touch and doesn't seem to smear or scuff easily, so only favorable impressions on that score. Feels nice on the hand, and it's not a slippery smooth that will send it flying off if you set it on a smooth surface. However, the edges of the skin have a "sharpness" to them. Not truly sharp or paper-cut sharp: just a distinct raised edge that the finger notices. I don't think there is anything that can particularly be done about this. It just is. For me, the aesthetic appeal beats out this particular niggle, but I figured I would mention it for those who might be more comfortable reading the device smoothly in the hand, without adornment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant skin for your Kindle Fire! ***UPDATE*** February 25, 2012
I just applied the DecalGirl Haiku skin to my new Kindle Fire. Sweet! I was worried that a skin would look cheap and "stuck on," but this decal looks almost airbrushed on. It is a tough, thin, high-quality (vinyl?) material with a matte finish. And the slightly rubbery texture provides a little better grip for your hefty Kindle toy.

APPLICATION--just a few tips:

1. Clean. Clean, clean, clean. Wash your hands, polish your Kindle Fire with a microfiber cloth. Clean your working area. Even a microscopic speck of dust will show though the thin vinyl.

2. LOTS of light. Use two lights in close, one on either side so you don't get shadows. Trying to apply a dark decal to a black slab of plastic is a bit "Zen" all by itself. ;) Snort!

3. Arrange the decal carefully, but do not press down yet. The really nice thing is that you can reposition this decal without problem. And you WILL need to reposition this decal.

4. Now press straight down hard. This skin is rubbery, so if you press hard sideways during application, it will warp out of position or form bubbles. Once you mash it into position, you can polish it down hard and it looks just great! And it REALLY holds tight to the Kindle Fire; no danger of peeling off.

NOTE: My decal arrived with a kink in it because the shipper did not include a piece of cardboard in the envelope for protection. Luckily, the kink polished out, but a swat across the nose to the shipping department.

UPDATE: I've had this decal on my Kindle Fire for over a year and it still looks like new! This is a quality product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and easy to apply! October 12, 2012
By J.Essie
I have had this skin on my Kindle touch for about 5 months and it looks brand new, even with daily use of the Kindle.

I hesitated to order a skin because I worried it might be difficult to apply, but it was much easier than I had anticipated. You can move the skin several times as long as you haven't pressed down hard on it and it does stretch slightly. If you do somehow totally botch the application, DecalGirl will send you a new one free of charge!

The skin itself is gorgeous, and the colors are more vibrant than they appear online. The deep grey that surrounds the screen seems to make the Kindle a little easier to read as it increases the contrast of the screen. The small leaf in the corner is not distracting while reading.

This skin has done a great job of protecting my Kindle from scratches and dirt while also making it more attractive. The skin itself shows no signs of wear. I carry my Kindle in a sleeve but read on it without any sort of case. The skin also makes the Kindle a little less slippery, so you're less likely to drop it while reading.

Very happy with this purchase.

These skins are pretty easy to apply (and I'm terrible at it). They are pretty and durable too. A great way to personalize your Kindle.
