Let's just get this right out in the open - "Decampitated" will NEVER win any awards for its acting, direction, or script. But what it DOES have going for it is some flat out silly, laugh out loud moments complete with some of the goofiest sound effects ever heard. Filmed in the gorgeous canyons of Colorado, "Decampitated" was released in 1998, and stars Mike Hart, Jonathon Scott, Thomas Martwick, Steve Ladden, and Cristina Patterson Ceret, with director Matt Cunningham taking the viewer on a trip of a film that blends elements of comedy, horror, and suspense, (well it tries to anyway.) The campers are hunted down by a skipping, (yes he really skips) bee helmet clad killer who chases after the campers hunting them down with an axe, bow and arrow, club and a fishing pole. Yes you read that right, a fishing pole where he chases after a camper detaching her ear, then after a couple of more casts actually casts out the hook remarkably landing the hook in her mouth, then proceeds to reel her in. The resulting dialogue between two leads when they find her bound to the tree with a fish net had me laughing.

One liners are abundant as when the campers after coming up with the decision that they should all stay together in one tent, overheard is one actor telling the other "get your butt out of my face," to which another actor responds "don't you know crack kills." In another scene one of the main actors after accidentally injuring his friend hears her say "I see a bright light." Friend responds "is it heaven, Paige?" Paige responds after spitting out gallons of blood "no, the sun is shining right in my eyes." And the reason for being asked if a lead actor wants an aspirin is one of the funniest scenes in the movie.

I first saw the trailer for this movie when I bought Cannibal the Musical. That was about 3 years ago and I've wanted to see it since then. I just watched this movie and I have to say it was grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! If you are a fan of Troma then this movie is for you. It has your usual dark morbid sence of humor. Beating people with severed arms and using a guys head as a dummy. I highly recommend giving this movie a watch.

DECAMPITATED is one of the better TROMA productions I've seen lately. Seven idiot friends set out on a camping trip in the wilds of Colorado. Ruining their plans, is a hopping, skipping, dancing madman, bent on their destruction in hideous, gory fashion! Utilizing only the finest in cheddar, this great film manages to entertain as well as educate. For instance, we learn that A) There's no better miracle of science than duct tape, B) The weed-wacker is life's ultimate weapon, and C) Sudden, brutal amputation need not be a hindrance to a quality camping holiday. Featuring ultra-mega-omni-violence, unfortunate sound effects, Kung fu, and a cross-dressing cowboy, DECAMPITATED has just about every element a great cinematic experience should contain. I laughed! I cried! I barfed a little once! If Daniel Day Lewis and Merrill Streep had not turned down the starring roles, THIS would have been the movie we talked about in 1998! Oh, Hurrah!...

Decampitated! is just what you'd expect from a movie of this title. It's packed with cheesy gore, token nudeness and all-out camp. If you're a fan of the Toxic Avenger, Blood Hook, Class of Nuke 'Em High and the like, you won't be disappointed. If you're not a fan of the previously mentioned, however, might want to skip on toward Remains of the Day.

This is the greatest camp film of the 90s. It's a spoof of all the classic 80s horror films and their cliches. Director D. Matt Cunningham brings influences of Monty Python to teenage horror. It's a must see!!
