Strong, classic pun,

This review is from: Decca Years (Audio CD)
If you enjoyed Cock Sparrer's classic "Shock Troops." you may find favor with this set of early tracks that combine basic production with those irresistible books we've come to expect from this band. The vocal sound is close to Slade - hardly punk - but the level of songwriting and intelligence of the lyrics are a preview of what the band will achieve. From their cover of "Sister Suzie", there's a distinctly rock flavor to several of these tracks; however, the R'n'B-flavored guitar - much like Eater, but with more punch - shows off the early punk sound.
Mandatory of Cock Sparrer fans, it's also a guilty pleasure for fans of '77-style punk. |
