5.0 out of 5 stars About the Book/Author/Contents, August 12, 2007
This review is from: Deccan Megaliths (Hardcover)
About the Book :
The worldwide phenomenon of erecting huge stone monuments called `megaliths` is an intriguing aspect, not only for the archaeologists but for the lay men as well. The Indian continent, especially the Deccan, is dotted by numerous megalithic sites. The present book aims at piecing together the available evidence to provide an insight into the beliefs and practices of the megalithic people, their way of life, the material culture, the chronology and various other aspects connected with megalithic culture. This pioneering work is also useful as a reference source as it gives information on all the excavated and unexcavated megalithic sites from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

About the Author :
Kudupudi Pulla Rao was born in the year 1956 in a small town called Amalapuram, in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. He took his M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees from the Nagpur University. He submitted a thesis entitled "Megalithic Cultures in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra" for his Doctoral degree. He is presently associated with the Archaeological Survey of India, in the Excavations Branch at Nagpur. He also has several research papers to his credit.
