Book Description

May 11, 2001 10 and up
The occult is a very real influence for today's youth--and the world is only too eager to exploit their curiosity about the supernatural. Tyndale and Bill Myers, cocreator of McGee and Me!, counteract the deceptions presented by immensely popular titles with an innovative approach to juvenile fiction--the Forbidden Doors series. Insightful and straightforward, each volume tackles spiritual warfare by presenting biblical truths through realistic situations and characters.

#2 The Deceived--Her newfound fascination with hypnotism and reincarnation leads Rebecca to doubt her Christian convictions--and nearly destroy her life. But her brother and a mystery friend named "Z" know that God can bring her through this dangerous deception.

More About the Author

Hi.
Thanks for checking up on me. Probably best to go over to my web site: www.Billmyers.com for biography information. And if you're really bored, there's my fan site over on Facebook:
www.facebook.com/pages/Bill-Myers/44983396181 Oh, and one last thing. If you're a student and your class reads one of my books, I'll do a 'meet the author' 30 min question and answer session by speakerphone with your class from my office here in California. If you're a reader's group, the same thing goes...in which case I'd recommend ELI to really get the discussion juices flowing - at least until THE GOD HATER comes out in 2010. Thanks for stopping by!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is awesome!, November 20, 1999

Hi! I really recommend this book to all teenagers who are into Jesus and like to be kept on the edge of their seat. The whole forbidden Door series is great. I rate this a top notch book. It teaches the importance of not letting even a little bit of sin in your life. If you give it an inch, it takes about a hundred miles. So give you whole self to God, not just part. Myers really emphazises the importance of faith and prayer. Please read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Goodbye, R.L. Stine!, June 8, 2003

This review is from: The Deceived (Forbidden Doors #2) (Mass Market Paperback)
My daughter, like many girls her age, has an interest in R.L. Stine books. She desires to know more about the spiritual realm, and she wants to face her fears. Healthy desires, yes. Open to deception, absolutely.

Bill Myers "Forbidden Doors" books have been just what the Physician ordered. I've enjoyed Myers' adult novels, but I think his books for the younger set are even more entertaining. And, above all, they shed light on the biblical definitions of good and evil.

"The Deceived" is the second book we've read together. We liked the first book, but this one was even more riveting. This time, Myers lets one of his main characters, Rebecca, face the deception that's all around. She begins to succumb to the "logic" of reincarnation and hypnotism, mesmerized by the beguiling Maxwell Hunter. Her struggle is believable. Scary stuff. And, with the end of each chapter, my daughter was begging for more. In fact, she let her library book of R.L. Stine's sit abandoned on the table as we cruised through the pages of "The Deceived" to discover Rebecca's final outcome.

We've already obtained a copy of the third book, "The Spell." We can't wait to get started! Hello, Bill Myers. Goodbye, R.L. Stine!

5.0 out of 5 stars The most thrilling and interesting book in his series., August 13, 1998
By A Customer
I really enjoyed reading Deceived. It highlighted a lot of misconceptions about hypnotism, whether it is authentic and whether it is scripturally based. It also satiated my curiosity about the occult and its practices today's times. Although I am an adult and a mature Christian in my faith a lot of questions regarding hypnotism and how it is viewed from a biblical perspective were answered for me. I enjoyed this book. It was educational and interesting. Bill Myers supports it with scripture and keeps it clear and simple. I highly recommend this series for all teenagers and young adults. Adults can get a lot out of this reading also. I plan to continue reading books by Bill Myer. It's a welcomed change in my collection of literature. A thrilling reading experience.
