Book Description

Down-on-her-luck witch Storie Bell never thought the biggest threat to her future would be Reid Malone, the very man she’d run from years before. After striking it rich in Texas shale, he’s back in town, and he seems hell-bent on getting in the way of her bookstore’s grand opening. A witch trying to blend in in a small southern town is hard enough, but now he’s seriously testing her strict No Kissing Mortal Men policy. But even witches don’t have a spell for that.

Reid knows there’s much more to Storie than meets the eye. But right now he has only one mission: to infiltrate her shop so he can snatch the elusive secret ingredient to his father’s million-dollar moonshine recipe. Once he does, he can go back to the city and get out of his small hometown, a place in which he has no future.

But as the days go by, he can’t help falling for Storie in every way…and every encounter brings him closer to finding out what happens when you try to deceive a witch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it! November 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Deceiving the Witch Next Door has just about everything I love in a romance:

-Small town girl comes back home to start a new life

-She and her best friend open a bookstore/cafe

-Super hot guy she has liked for years works next door

-And she is a witch!

Storie bell has come back to town after being gone for several years. He father has died and left her an old garage that she and her BFF Harper and renovating into a bookstore/café. Every time she turns around, there is Reid from next door snooping around. Just when things start getting interesting for Storie and Reid, her long lost mother shows up with an urgent message. Storie has to leave this mortal world and return with her or she and the brother and sister she never knew about will lose their powers forever.

Yes this book has it all and I loved it! It isn't a long book but the story was just perfect. I am really hoping that this is the first of a series because I would love to know more about Storie's brother and sister, Astrid and Declan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deceiving the Witch Next Door July 24, 2012

Let me start off by saying I'm a Melissa Bourbon Ramirez fan. I don't write reviews of books I don't like. So needless to say, I loved Decieving the Witch Next Door! Melissa brings you into Bloomington Texas like you're driving into the town and experiencing the characters dreams and desires. Her lead characters, Storie and Reid, pull you into their lives and make you want to read their story (love the play on names!). Storie's relationships with her best friend Harper and her two daughters Scarlet and Piper is truly what family is all about as they work to achieve their dreams in a bookstore that combines books and food and live music at night in a garden room. Their reality turns into every reader's dream bookstore. And the magical heat drawing Reid and Storie together is enough to brew up a storm in the dry Texas town. Loved it!

3.0 out of 5 stars A steamy romance August 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was a sexy, spicy adult read. It was a little slow at the start, but picked up halfway through the book. I enjoyed the way the story came full circle.

The characters were unique, but lacked depth. Never the less, the author fleshed out the characters acceptably. Storie, the heroine of the story is a witch, living in a human world.

The plot was enjoyable. I liked the story and how it unraveled. It was definitely a steamy love story. Reid was a sexy cowboy with a slick reputation. Lots of tension between Storie and Reid ensued.

Overall, I liked this book and would recommend it to adults due to the mature content. I give this book three glittery stars!
