4.0 out of 5 stars Sooooothing, November 3, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
If you're looking for an old-fashioned holiday collection you might want to keep searching. This is not Santa Claus & Jingle Bells. Unless I'm mistaken there wasn't a single recorded jingling bell and that's rare for a Christmas album. If, on the other hand, you are a Kenny Loggins fan like me and you enjoyed "Return to Pooh Corner" then you won't want to miss "December". It feels like George Winston plus a little Kenny G with Kenny Loggin's beautiful vocals. Every song is like a soothing seasonal lullabye aimed at adults. This CD is billed as "a romantic christmas recording" and it truly makes you feel like spending a quiet evening in front of the fire with your sweetheart. Very soothing indeed. My only complaint is that I may not be playing it all year long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adrian Wu, January 4, 2002
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
Kenny has always remained the most prolific musician/songwriter in my opinion. "December" proves this once more. The songs are absolutely magical and the arrangements are spot on. From "walking in the air", this CD grabs you and doesn't let you go - and you won't want to be let go. My girlfriend wept to the words on "On Christmas Morning"...such is the depth of Kenny Loggins. I put on this CD as early as july the last year and the year before just to get into the x'mas mood. Its now Jan 2002 but "December" is still stuck in my CD player...and in my heart! I dare say that this is THE christmas album to get if you're a die-hard-romantic-music lover. Go out and buy it now:-)

4.0 out of 5 stars A new seasonal classic, December 14, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
The fact that his last two albums were terribly overlooked hasn't phased Kenny Loggins one bit. This classy Christmas project radiates all the tender warmth and spirit that the season signifies for a lot of us.

Besides adequate renditions of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts)" and "White Christmas," Loggins includes lesser-heard classics like "Christmas Time is Here" (from the Peanuts holiday special) and "Walking in the Air" (from the fantastic animated short "The Snowman"). David Crosby and Graham Nash join in on "Coventry Carol," and Loggins originals "Angels in the Snow" and "December" stand up well next to the time-proven classics.

As always, Loggins' vocals and productions are top-notch, making for a fine listening experience from beginning to end. This is one Christmas album you'll be happy to pull out every December with the lights and ornaments.

Kenny set out to creat a "Romantic Christmas" album and boy did he ever! There is not one song on here I don't enjoy. Music should always take you somewhere else and this CD does the job!

The dreamy "Walking In The Air" sets the mood perfectly and is followed by a stunning rendition of "The Christmas Song" and is followed by Track after Track of more of the same tone set at the beginning. This CD stirrs the hope and love people feel for family and friends, and even some bittersweet memories too.One of my favorite tracks is "White Christmas" and another is "Some Children See Him", both are just wonderful arrangments that deserve a listen to, as well as the entire CD.

Good Job Kenny!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Christmas CD, December 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
Just got this CD out again, it's the first holiday CD I play in December and the last one to get put away again until next year. Loggins says he wanted to write some "new" Christmas classics with an old-fashioned style and he succeeded brilliantly. This CD brings the spirit of the holidays to me like no other.

5.0 out of 5 stars A warm and touching Christmas collection!, October 21, 1999
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
A long overlooked vocalist from the 70's, 80's and 90's, Kenny delivers a tastefully produced and performed December/Christmas collection. The songs are beautifully arranged and truly capture the essence of both the Christmas and winter seasons. A delightful addition to your Christmas library!

This review is from: December (Audio CD)
I usually buy 2 or 3 New Holiday CD's each year and Kenny's was the first on my list...and I was not disappointed. My favorite song is "The Bells of Christmas" but I love the way the whole CD flows from one song to another. The new holiday songs are destined to be classics. Thanks Kenny for many wonderful holiday memories. listening to this GREAT CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bells of Christmas Ring for All of Us!!!!!!, December 3, 2006
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
Well people...wouldn't you know that it takes Holiday music to bring this old Seer out of hiding......but it's a good thing and, when is there more an appropriate time to re-ignite the love of music? No finer time I say.

I purchased this c.d. a few seasons ago. Although a fan of Kenny Loggins, I hadn't heard any of this-but I figured that judging by Kenny's past excellence, how could I go wrong? I was right on! Although aged-my Seer's instincts are still sharp! Kenny does not disappoint on this wonderful offering! A pure, emotional, exhilarating experience.

We begin with "Walking In the Air", an ethereal, atmospheric magical journey of the season to come-and from there he creates a pasticco of music-drawing heavily on creative, reflective moods. And being reflective myself-this is the stuff my dreams are made of. Lilting, light, beautiful shades of music and vocals. So fine, so very fine. Be forewarned-this not the jaunty jingle bells of long ago-instead Kenny takes us on an awe-inspiring sleighride. One of beauty-like seeing the lights on the tree light up for the first time. How wonderful.

And what of the songs? The newer material fits in nicely with the old chestnuts. But one song, overwhelms me each time I hear it. That is "The Bells of Christmas". A lovely, melancholy yearning to return to the magic known as Christmas. Kenny has touched on a universal feeling in all of this with this-and, to me, this is one of the best songs he's ever done.

He reinvents "The Christmas Song" (one of Metamorphos favorite top 3 Holiday tunes of all-time) moving it to a slower mode and interesting arrangement. Also in his bag of tricks is mellow- jazz tinged guitar reworking of "White Christmas". It is a wonderful thing to hear renditions of known songs be molded to an artists style as accomplished as Kenny Loggins.

This c.d. is like a prayer - soft-yearning-spiritual, and a joy to all that take the quiet time to listen. Get this. Marvel at the beauty here. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Thank-you Kenny. Your music has always been inspirational and a joy!

Must go. I hear my Spirit Guides listening to this in the other room. They better save me some egg nog!

Again-a fine effort with great class!

Wishing a happy season to all my readers....... Yours, Metamorpho

4.0 out of 5 stars Xmas all the time, October 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: December (Audio CD)
When I first heard this album I cried, the way he performs these songs makes it feel like Christmas every day. I could imagine him sitting around a Christmas tree with all the lights on. Coventry carol is one of my favorite songs by him. This is one of my favorite Christmas albums and I play it at all times of the year. It is awesome.
