Book Description

A new novel from the author of The Sidhe Princess and The Wild Sight.

A DANGEROUS MISSION --
The Irishman is a ruthless mercenary who performs any task for the right price. His current assignment involves intercepting a dangerous package smuggled aboard the cruise liner Intrepid. If the contents reach Los Angeles, millions will die.

But only if the Irishman fails.

A DEADLY ATTRACTION --
When Adventure Cruise lines' security officer Skylar Davidson finds the stowaway, she recognizes him from a bloody shoot-out she witnessed at LAX airport. But rather than being frightened, she's drawn to the enigmatic Irishman, and quickly becomes embroiled in his desperate scheme.

Can they win this deadly fight? Or will it cost them their lives?

Riveting danger, fast action, and sensual romance make High Seas Deception a thrill-ride of a read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Romantic Suspense! January 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
McGary has already proved herself with her previously published romantic suspense books and her novelette, "The Sidhe Princess," so I was eager to see her back with another suspense book and another great Irish hero!

After a devastating experience as an LA cop leaves her shaken, Skylar Davidson takes a position as security chief on a cruise line. Everything's great until stealthy Irishman Malone steals his way onto her ship and into her heart. Then the action begins as the hero and heroine race from the cruise ship Intrepid to Mexico, chasing and being chased by some very bad hombres.

Oh, and there's a deadly package involved. And a desperate ship to shore escape.

Just my kind of story! Keep them coming, Ms. McGary!

4.0 out of 5 stars An high octane romance novel July 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is not my usual kind of book. My own life has had so much romance in it that I do not usually spend my reading time in that genre. But this is one I am glad I downloaded and read. I was directed to the book from an author site, and for free, what could I lose. So last night when I was finished working on the third book of my Queen of Scots suite and needed a break, I went to my 400+ Kindle library, and read this in one sitting. The protagonist is surprisingly believable. As a retired prosecutor who worked daily with cops, I see Skylar's move from traditional law enforcement in a department that did not provide her the needed emotional support following a tragic officer related death, to working security on a cruise line as a very smart move. And she is a smart character. And I love how she meets the romantic interest in what starts out to be an intuituve bust. He, too, is introduced into the plot in an intriguing manner that keep my interest level high until I was immersed in the plot. I will reveal no more, but this story was captivating enough to engage me to read it in a single sitting, and it has enough action, suspense and plausibility that I did not feel disappointment in venturing into a genre I usually avoid. This is an ideal beach or airplane read, worth purchasing. I am recommending it to my adult daughter who heads to Europe next week and has a lot of flight time to fill.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book March 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is definitely worth reading. Ms. McGary has a great touch for suspense, and one thing I'm particularly pleased with is, though there is romance & some nice lovin' between the h/h, she didn't feel the need to make it graphic and right there with every detail out there to be seen. That makes for a very pleasant change of pace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great concept and well executed! November 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I found this book easy to read and enjoyable. I've been searching for interesting fiction set in exotic destinations, so when I found this one I scooped it up. The cruise ship premise and Skylar's job as a security agent allow the perfect setup for situations to develop that the average tourist may not suspect are possible to happen in the background while they're lounging around sipping pina coladas. That's a big reason I liked this book. It felt like I was seeing the inner-workings of a cruise ship operation. The story gets rolling right away. Malone is introduced, and he's highly competent, but Skylar is just as able. Without giving away the secrets or the ending, I'll just say that I kept reading (which is rare for me) and I intend to keep an eye on this author to see what might come next. Hopefully, more along these lines. On a side note, the formatting worked fine for me on my Kindle Fire. I was able to adjust font size, color mode, etc. and had no problems reading any of the text. My congrats to this author for a 5-star job!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast-moving action adventure with pleasing romance June 13, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Romantic suspense with great locations, intriguing characters and a high octane plot, Loucinda McGary's High Seas Deception is a fast-moving novel, quickly read and easily enjoyed.

The author creates some pleasing romantic tension between hero and heroine without spending too long in the bedroom. And if Skylar seems a little too quick to trust the mysterious Irishman, well, he is enticingly handsome and she does have reason to believe he might be a good guy. I wasn't entirely convinced by her reasons, but the story moves fast enough that any questions are quickly left behind.

High Seas Deception invites readers onto a very convincing cruise ship where Skylar works in security. Stolen identity leads to secret assignments to glorious countryside retreats, via scary rides, terrorist threats, man overboard and wonderful dialog. The plot moves quickly, pulling the reader on, and the twists and turns leave you wondering just who this Irishman is and whose side he's on. But all is resolved to the reader's happy satisfaction by the end.

A quick enjoyable read with fun characters, scary plot, excellent dialog, and great locations, High Seas Deception is another thoroughly enjoyable romantic suspense from author Loucinda McGary.

Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy of this novel by the author. Thank you Loucinda!
