Murder on the Champ de Mars
"[Cara Black] is on to a good thing: each of her novels is set in a colorful Parisian neighborhood—and there are a lot of them. The cumulative result of reading this addictive series is a sort of mini-tour of the city, as seen through a filter of fictional murder ... Leduc is always a reliable and charming guide to the city's lesser-known corners." —The Seattle Times

Book Description

Madison Westin is back!! The Florida Keys are hotter than ever.

With Madison's never-say-no style she's smarter and packing an attitude not to mention her Glock.

This time, trouble rolls into Tarpon Cove in the form of Madison's ex-husband, Jackson Devereaux, whom she hoped to never see again. His arrival brings unparalleled chaos and an uninvited corpse.

Teaming up with her hot friend, Fabiana, the two women go from chasing the usual cast of misfits and weirdos to hunting down a murderer. The action turns deadly serious when they stir up a nasty enemy as they try to stay one-step ahead in a game of cat and mouse that threatens their lives.

Deborah Brown's Paradise series is packed with Action, Romance, Intrigue, Mystery and Suspense. Oh... did I forget to mention the humor makes for a fast and enjoyable read? These books will be difficult to put down!

About the Author

Deception in Paradise, a Florida Keys mystery, is the second novel in Deborah Brown's Paradise series.

"This book's like cotton candy - a sweet airy confection that's a little taboo, but you've got to have it anyways."

Life is all about your shoes...

Crazy. Ice cream loving. Redhead. 5'2", long legs. As an avid exerciser, I get to the gym every five years or so. I hate being tricked by that stinking raisin in the oatmeal cookie when my heart was set on chocolate. And it's totally acceptable for me to be mildly annoying when it makes me laugh. South Florida is my home, with my ungrateful rescue animals, where Mother Nature takes out her bad attitude in the form of hurricanes.

I am loving this series. The characters make you want to join in the fun. They have you cheering for them and wanting to help kick some butts...way to go ladies. The only down side is now I have to wait till Ms Brown writes the next one. This is a fun, quick read for a day around the pool or a rainy day, once you pick it up you can't pick it down.

3.0 out of 5 stars A fun story :) June 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was cute. It was fun. But very obviously 'Stephanie Plum'-ish. Oddball characters abound, and everyone worries about the headstrong main character getting herself into trouble or hurt. And she does, but is always able to avoid seroius injury by the skin of her teeth, or gets rescued by a mysterious, handsome hunk who wants to make out with her. I received this book for free in exchange for a review and I enjoyed reading it.

2.0 out of 5 stars meh! October 6, 2013
By J.M.
Format:Kindle Edition
I read the first book and automatically went on to this one, it didn't deliver like Crazy in Paradise. Madison became a bumbling idiot in this book. She was not a character to fall in love with, it was like the author forgot Zach was part of her life until CHAPTER 6!!! Seriously? CHAPTER 6?? 14% into the book are we reminded that Zach existed in her life. Jax's relationship with Madison made little to no sense.... and Zach was all but forgotten and when he did show up it was nothing like before. Really disappointing book....I wanted to read #3 but I have a feeling it might be worst that this one. The steaminess between her and zack was left in Crazy in Paradise, so was her wittiness and fun personality. She is no longer a character to love, she's that idiot you yell at in the movies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paradise September 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As soon as I finished reading Crazy in Paradise, I had to buy Deception in Paradise! I couldn't stop reading! I was always wondering what they were going to get into next! The description of the ocean and resounding areas made me want to see the ocean very badly. One can almost smell the salty air. I loved these 2 books and highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars I want to live in Tarpon Cove June 16, 2013
By J. Boyd
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second book of the series, following "Crazy in Paradise". Madison Westin inherits her Aunt Elizabeth's home and cottage motel in Tarpon Cove, in the Florida Keys. Madison's ex-husband, Jax shows up and starts causing problems for Madison and her family. Jax has a criminal history and becomes involved with a murder. Madison wants to get rid of Jax but is stuck defending him in order to legally keep her home. Aunt Elizabeth's devious attorney from the first book gets involved and causes more legal problems for Madison. Madison's friendship with Fabiana (my favorite character) develops and they soon are in business together. Madison's mom finds a boyfriend and Madison is not pleased. All of the fun characters from the first book return and of course murder and mystery are the main plot. But there is so much fun and crazy in this book, that I could not put it down.

Madison's mom is really coming into her own in this book, which was fun to read. I enjoyed all the drama at the motel but will say that the PI work with Fabiana is my favorite. At first, I was not happy with Madison trying to help Jax as he was a creep. But I think it is part of Madison's character to help someone that she once cared for and I eventually accepted it. It did help create a great plot and get Madison into trouble, so I loved the wild ride.

I immediately downloaded, "Trouble in Paradise" after finishing this book. I don't want this to end.

Enjoyable characters and easy story line. Have read all in this series so far. Very light, easy read. Don't look for deep plots, just take it to the beach or to the sofa.

2.0 out of 5 stars More ridiculous than the first one April 15, 2014

The first book in the series was a little far-fetched, but this book was ridiculously unbelievable. I did finish it, but kept thinking to myself how unrealistic it was, even for fiction.

More About the Author

The Paradise series, are Florida Keys mysteries, "great as stand-alone reads, but they're like chips...you won't be able to devour just one!"

I've been writing, in one way or another for as long as I can remember; poetry, sappy short stories (my best friend made me swear that I'd never show anyone until I changed the names), and a romance novel shoved under my bed.

I wanted to create books with a wide-range of unforgettable characters, with heat and romance, and lots of guns. It wouldn't be complete without a slice of humor and charm.

I live with my family and demon children aka rescue cats in South Florida.
