Book Description

November 28, 2006
WHEN A U-2 SPY PLANE GOES DOWN IN A FIERY HEAP, THE PILOT'S DEATH IS A TRAGEDY -- BUT IT'S NO ACCIDENT.

U.S. Colonel Ed Coffin is sent to South Korea, the land of his birth, to lead the most important and grim investigation of his career: a secret U-2 spy plane has crashed under highly suspicious circumstances. A former U-2 squadron commander, Coffin is teamed up with his former lover, the irrepressible OSI investigator Marva "Mother" Hubbard, and together they learn that the plane's pilot was specifically targeted for death -- but why? Navigating a geopolitical web strewn with murder, ambition, and betrayal, Coffin is soon embroiled in a desperate race for survival. But Coffin is also on another, more personal mission -- and one way or the other, it may be his last.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, April 17, 2010
This review is from: Deception Plan (Mass Market Paperback)
Not nearly as enjoyable as his earlier books. Reads like a rough road. Character relationships seemed very awkward. Pretty good story line, but not fun to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Drama Set In Korea, March 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Deception Plan (Mass Market Paperback)
U.S. colonel Ed Coffin has been on the rank promotion fast track. He was Korean born coming from an American father and Korean mother. He was a former U-2 squadron commander and has issues of his own. When a U-2 goes down on a mission and the pilot, a friend of Coffin's dies, Coffin is sent over to investigate. If you have any doubts as to the sexual integration of the Air Force set them aside. There are three bright attractive main female characters in this book. There are good guys and bad guys in the Korean military with key contributions to the plot. Parts of this book really move. Others seem to kind of slow things down. But, all in all, a reasonably good quick read.
