5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT READ
Page turner, didn't want to put it down. Bought all 5 books available on amazon.com. Had them all read in a week. He's now on my favorite author list.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Not nearly as enjoyable as his earlier books. Reads like a rough road. Character relationships seemed very awkward. Pretty good story line, but not fun to read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Drama Set In Korea, March 15, 2009

This review is from: Deception Plan (Mass Market Paperback)
U.S. colonel Ed Coffin has been on the rank promotion fast track. He was Korean born coming from an American father and Korean mother. He was a former U-2 squadron commander and has issues of his own. When a U-2 goes down on a mission and the pilot, a friend of Coffin's dies, Coffin is sent over to investigate. If you have any doubts as to the sexual integration of the Air Force set them aside. There are three bright attractive main female characters in this book. There are good guys and bad guys in the Korean military with key contributions to the plot. Parts of this book really move. Others seem to kind of slow things down. But, all in all, a reasonably good quick read.

Masterful plot. Exciting from beginning to end. I was so impressed with this book I ordered all the Patrick Davis books and am enjoying his compassionate style of writing apparently based on his own experiences as a man who is a mixed race having lived in both countries.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rough Reading, December 23, 2006

This review is from: Deception Plan (Mass Market Paperback)
It has been quite awhile since I've read anything as choppy as this story. Author Davis seems to delight in the "unfinished" sentences. Never has there been a more tight-lipped bunch of characters in a story. No-one wants to talk. Mother won't talk or listen to Ed, even though they were past lovers. Throughout most of the story she is sarcastic and exudes hate towards him until she finally confesses she always loved him. Important discussions and possible revelations are always interrupted by something of seemingly greater importance. When something of importance is to be shared the person is told "not now," or "later." Unbelievingly, the mass of the story takes place in just a matter of a few early morning hours, filled with one event after another. No time out for rest, sleep or food. Ed's bags never did get unpacked. Then when food is offered, no-one is hungry. The story plot is a good one but it is not laid out smoothly so the reader wants to get back to it after taking a break. I didn't find it "Gripping" as other reviews did but just curious as to how it would finally end, which could have been better and happier all around.
