About the Author

Manuel Mora is an associate professor in the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes (UAA) from 1995 and currently is a doctoral candidate in Engineering in the Engineering Graduate School of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He received his B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering in 1984 and his MSc. in Computer Sciences with Artificial Intelligence as major area in 1989, both from the Monterrey Tech (ITESM). In the last 5 years, he has published and presented several papers in refereed international conferences in USA, Europe and Mexico. He has been also guest co-editor for special issues on DMSS for the Information Resource Management Journal and the Journal of Decision Systems. His current research interests are: the organizational design and implementation of Integrated Decision Making Support Systems and Theoretical Foundations of Information Systems, using in both research streams the Systems Approach as the theoretical frame.

Guisseppi A. Forgionne is a full Professor of Information Systems at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). Professor Forgionne holds a B.S. in Commerce and Finance, an M. A. in Econometrics, an M. B. A., and a Ph. D. in Management Science and Econometrics. He has published 24 books and approximately 150 research articles and consulted for a variety of public and private organizations on decision support systems theory and applications. Dr. Forgionne also has served as department chair at UMBC, Mount Vernon College, and Cal Poly Pomona. He has received several national and international awards for his work.

Jatinder N. D. Gupta is currently Eminent Scholar of Management, Professor of Management Information Systems, and Chairperson of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems in the College of Administrative Science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, Alabama. Most recently, he was Professor of Management, Information and Communication Sciences, and Industry and Technology at the Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering (with specialization in Production Management and Information Systems) from Texas Tech University. Co-author of a textbook in Operations Research, Dr. Gupta serves on the editorial boards of several national and international journals. Recipient of the Outstanding Faculty and Outstanding Researcher awards from Ball State University, he has published numerous papers in such journals as Journal of Management Information Systems, International Journal of Information Management, INFORMS Journal of!

Computing, Annals of Operations Research, and Mathematics of Operations Research. More recently, he served as a co-editor of a special issue on Neural Networks in Business of Computers and Operations Research and a book entitled, Neural Networks in Business: Techniques and Applications. His current research interests include information and decision technologies, scheduling, planning and control, organizational learning and effectiveness, systems education, and knowledge management. Dr. Gupta is a member of several academic and professional societies including the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), and the Information Resources Management Association (IRMA).

This books is really an interesting and coherent vision of Decision Support System. Professors Gupta, Forgionne and Mora have been an outstanding job where summarize different approaches and theories about how managers, IT Professional and organizations in general using IT/IS as Intelligent Platform to enhance his own projections and develop new business options in Complex business World.
