About the Author

Karon Goodman is a stepmom of two boys and mom of one, all now grown. When she and her husband married in 1996, she realized quickly that stepmothering was the biggest challenge she'd ever faced, and learning how to survive and live it well has been an education like no other. Karon's first book for stepmoms, The Stepmom's Guide to Simplifying Your Life, grew out of her own desperation to find peace and happiness in a complicated life, and the book won a 2003 Gold National Parenting Publications Award. Karon's next stepmom book tackled the stepmom's number one problem: mom. It's Not My Stepkids—It's Their Mom! is a reader favorite, and Stepping Stones for Stepmoms: Everyday Strength for a Blended Family Mom was released in 2007. Karon has published an online newsletter for stepparents since 2001 and invites readers to her blog, Continuing the Stepparenting Journey. She's written for various publications and sites and maintains a site with articles and resources for stepparents, karongoodman.com. Karon also writes inspirational books for women and travels for speaking engagements from her home in Alabama.

4.0 out of 5 stars They are ALL our kids, December 4, 2007
No matter how children enter our lives, it is always an opportunity for us to grow. As adults, our responsibility is to rise above the pettiness, fear and uncertainty of our egos, and set an example of love and respect for all. Karon's suggestions are extremely helpful in moving us in that direction, where the benefits are endless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Help for frustrated stepmoms, December 5, 2007
By Jill Davis Doughtie (Pasadena, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Karon Goodman writes from her life experience about how to live the stepfamily life with grace. She sent me a review copy of her new ebook, Seven Decisions You Can Make Today To Improve Your Steplife, and my absolute favorite of the seven decisions was to "decide to live well with imperfection." That advice speaks to me, not just as a member of a stepfamily, but as a member of any kind of family, and as a human being. There is so much in life that isn't under our control; Goodman reminds us that one of the biggest secrets to living well is in how we respond to things that might not have initially been on our wishlists.

Stepmoms who are feeling powerless and frustrated might feel encouraged and more in tune with that quiet, strong, light place inside themselves after reading Goodman's advice about reaching for poise and growth in painful situations.
