5.0 out of 5 stars Gets you hooked on Carol Higgins Clark!
I love Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter does not disappoint, either. This was the first book I read by Carol and I found it a light, quick read and very satisfying - no loose ends left on the last page. Be careful - this one could keep you up at night!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not horrible, but okay
I admit that I read the book because of Carol Higgins Clark's mother, but the book wasn't horrible as I think all of us have read far worse. The problem with the book is that you won't really like any of the charachters and that causes a bit of disinterest. The pros are that the book has a plot but it lacks sparkle.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great murder mystrey that will make you want to read more, October 27, 1998
By A Customer
this is a great book for those that love mystrey novels. When I first started reading it I wasn't too interested and a couple years later read it again and thought that it was the best book. It isn't really serious, in fact very funny. The characters in the book seem very real and after reading the book I would like to see this part of England for myself. The book is not what you would expect and niether are the chartactersin it. This book would be good for those between 13 and 90. It doesn't have much of an age catagorie, but the book might be hard to follow for younger readers. The story is about a muder 25 years old and the detective thats whats to do it gets sent on a first class cruise with an 80year old widow who seems and acts at least half her age. on the cruise ship with them is a jewelthief, a murderer, some newly weds, a pair of odd 2nd honeymooners, a murdermystery writer and a funeral parlor owner. The characters are some that you wouldn't expect. This is a very good book to buy and also read.

4.0 out of 5 stars surprisenly good and humorous..., July 31, 1998
I had been eyeing this book for weeks, debating with myself over whether I should buy it or not, and whether it would be as good as Mary Higgins Clark's suspense novels- I'm so glad I finally bought it! It was fiercly entertaning, and funny, with suspense and intrigue all tied up into a little package.DECKED is a lot less serious and not as hardcore as her mother's books, but it is obvious that Carol inherited her mother's suspense writing genes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fun, fun!, August 19, 1999
By A Customer
Like another reviewer wrote, I too was skeptical of reading a book by Mary's daughter. I was afraid Carol might be trying to ride her mother's coat-tails. How wrong I was! Carol's books are really nothing like Mary's, they are much funnier, and more like a "cozy" where Mary's are suspensful and scarier. Decked was a fun read, Regan is a great character and I'm glad she has a series, she's much too interesting to only be in one book. I hope Carol writes as many books as her mother has.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, humorous mystery, June 30, 2010

"Decked" is a humorous mystery novel. The mystery was a who-done it that kept me guessing until about the same time as the detective figured it out. Several people with different motives wanted to be in or near Lady Exner's cabin, which built the suspense as each tried to achieve their goal and as I wondered if any of them would mess up the others' plans. And, of course, there was the suspense of knowing someone was intending to kill Regan and Lady Exner--and they didn't realize it.

Some of the characters were a bit exaggerated to create humor, but the characters were varied and had realistic motives. The pacing was good, and the story never lost my interest. The world-building was very good, especially in portraying what traveling on a cruise ship would be like.

There was no sex. There was a minor amount of bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this novel as enjoyable, fairly clean reading.
