Hi, this is the main reason we bought the knife and it works like a charm. Haven't had any issues with it at all.

I purchased this model and it is NOT cordless. It's electric with an attached cord and must remain plugged in to be used.

I bought this to cut my high density foam, but the foam fit just right so I didn't use it for that project. I did use it on a foam noodle and it worked well.

Ii do not know if it replaced the EK800. I have really enjoyed using this electric knife and find it very satisfactory.

It worked great for me cutting foam, I don't know about cutting anything else with it.
