This is a really handy saw to have around, especially if you already have Black & Decker 18V slide-style batteries. I also have the Black & Decker 18V string trimmer, blower, hedge trimmer, jigsaw, and 2 drills, all of which I really like. It's nice to be able to use the same batteries for all my tools. Firestorm and Black & Decker 18V batteries are pretty much interchangeable, or at least the ones I have are. This recip saw does a good job cutting through tree limbs. I've used it to cut branches up to 4" in diameter, and it worked just fine. And it works well on 2x4's too.

You could buy a more powerful saw, but you would either have to deal with the inconvenience of the power cord, or the added expense of buying different batteries and charger if you went with the Dewalt for example. To buy a Dewalt 18V will run you $200.00 for a kit with a battery and charger. No thanks! I don't need to demolish buildings or cut through 1/8" think steel, so my Firestorm recip saw will do just fine.

If you are looking for a gorilla saw, this isn't it. If, however, you are looking for a very good home reciprocating saw, then this is great.

I own several of the tools in this series and I love each one of them. I even bought a second line trimmer because it works so well, I wanted to make sure I always had a spare.

I only tried this as a test on a 1" galvanized pipe as a test for metal and it worked just fine. Not industrial strength, but it worked quite well enough for my purposes.

I've mainly used it for medium sized limbs and cutting out some roots from some small trees I had to take down. For that, it has worked great. I dug out around the roots and went to work with this and the stump was out pretty quickly. It is efficient with battery use, too.

I recommend all of the tools in this series. I've linked to the replacement blades I've used for this as well as the other B&D 18v cordless tools I have. (With all of those, I now have 10 batteries and seven chargers! Tip, instead of just buying a battery, look for deals where a tool is almost free and comes with the battery you're going to buy anyway.)

I bought this item to help me demolish an old deck. I wanted a battery-powered saw for portability. However, that's the biggest problem. The battery only lasts about 30 minutes per charge. This is fine for small jobs (e.g. cutting a few boards). But I would not use this for large jobs.

Overall, the saw handles great! Very smooth action. One problem is that because it's battery powered, if you're low on charge, the blade can get stuck, forcing the entire tool to move. That can be annoying!

So make sure you're fully charged and have a few spare batteries around.

Again, an excellent 18 volt product from B&D. Wish they would continue to expand this line.

I bought this to use on small trees and brush. It works well, but goes through the battery very quickly. I used one battery completely to cut one small tree and didn't even get completely through it. This was while using a very aggressive blade as well. I thought it would do a little better job than it did.

Item arrived promptly and I immediately put it to work. Specifically, I wanted to cut up a long, large metal pole from a pool solar cover takeup reel. I was able to quickly and efficiently complete the job.

Having a cordless drill and vacuum using the same 18v battery, this unit fits right in. Does consume the available battery power relatively quickly when sawing metal but is sure handy. (Good thing I have 3 batteries)

So far, so good. The saw handled 2X4s, nails, and thick steel hinges with ease. I can't imagine a cordless saw that could work better. Size and ease of use are great.
