Heavy but it sure is bright!,

In my opinion, this is the king of spotlights! 20M candle power! I didn't believe it when I read it, but I had to buy it anyways just to be sure and after using this spot light, I believe it now!
I use a spotlight on my ranch mainly during calving season, where you have to drive around in the fields checking the cows at all hours of the night. I have used these spotlights in the past: Vector 3-Million Candlepower Mega Sport Rechargeable Spot Light #VEC139Y and you can get decent light out of them, but the trigger button has failed on all three of them I have owned, so it was time to try a new one. The durability of this unit is better than the Vector and I have had no problems with it yet. There is one thing to note here... the Vector is heavy at 7 lbs - you might not think it's that heavy until you have to hold it out the window of the truck for a while - but this 20 million candle power beast sets the record - coming in a 11.6 lbs - WOW! If nothing else, you will get buff holding this bad boy for any period of time. This baby can put out the light... this is the first spot light I have used where I can stand on the deck of the house and spot the cows in the fields at over 1000 yards away and see them clearly. Recharging time is no more or less than other products in this class of spotlights that I have used. One note of caution - be careful with this monster, I am sure you can fry eyeballs with it if you are not careful.

You can actually see the LED flashlight in the picture of the product, but (as of this writing) Amazon hasn't included this extra feature in the product description. That's a shame. For changing a tire, providing light inside a tent or during a power outage, even walking down a trail in the woods, it supplies plenty of light and it will run for up to 10 days on a single charge. It's a great extra option to have.
A few other things this light has that my last spotlight didn't: * LED "charge status" lights so you can easily monitor how much battery power you have left. * A built in "angle stand" so you can shine the light where you need it. * ON/OFF switches, instead of a "trigger switch" --In other words, you don't have to continue squeezing a trigger to provide light, you simply flip a switch and the light stays on until you turn it off. Also, the overall "feel" of quality is high. It's big, rugged, and appears well built. So far so good.

The brightest spotlight I've ever seen,

While nowhere on the box or instruction sheet does the name Black and Decker appear, the unit is obviously of superior quality, and unlike many of its brethren, it holds its charge well. I bought the unit to acquire a spotlight that would provide genuinely strong illumination. It exceeds my greatest expectations in that the beam is incredibly bright and can cast light visible a mile away. I showed it to two police officers in our area who commented that the unit is far brighter than anything at their disposal. They were profoundly astounded at its performance, as was I the first time I turned it on. MORE: Added 1/7/08. Had need of the unit many months after its purchase...and discovered it had fully held its charge. I couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it. It was last charged in July 2007! ASTOUNDING. Lesser spotlights purchased previously lost their charges rapidly. MORE: Added 3/20/08. Hadn't been used since Jan.'08 but needed it the other night. STILL charged.
Had both "headlights" on--full blast--for 30 min. before it dimmed. The charge held from July '07 till March '08! Really ASTOUNDING.

Better than expected,

Best of the best. I needed to replace one of those 1 million candle power rechargeable flashlights that I keep in my motorhome. I didn't want another low quality, low performance units, so I did some research and found this one. I ordered it, expecting something a step above the typical purchase, and what I received was a unit with a commercial feel, glass lens and truly usable features such as the 12V outlet and LED aux flashlight. For the initial charge (when new) it is strongly suggested that the unit be charged for a specified 35 hours. Charging indicators on the unit illuminated as follows: 1 red LED, then 2 LEDs followed by a blinking green LED when fully charged. I tried out the unit in my very wooded land and the light output was unsurpassed. Regardless of how much we cycled the unit, it did not seem to dull. I'm impressed with the unit and would highly recommend it for those who have a need for ridiculously bright portable lighting. If you buy one, don't get anxious and try it out until you do the initial 35 hr charge. This is the key to battery longevity and performance.

These would be useful for a Hollywood movie premiere,

Wow these are bright!!!!!! In fact, if you aim straight up it'll light up the skies like spotlights used at Hollywood premieres! But they are far more effective when you aim straight ahead, as you can clearly see about 500 feet as if it were daylight.
This spotlight is a two-headed design with two bulbs. It's similar as the headlights on a car except it's brighter and lights up farther. You can choose to use only one bulb, as there are two switches (one for each bulb). No reason to use both actually, as one is as bright as two. It's just barely noticeable really. Also using only one should prolong the charge and also bulb life. And contrary to other reviews, these are not heavy at all, weighing only 9 pounds (weighed on my electronic scale). I can even pick it up with my pinky and hold it for a few minutes. So others are exaggerating about how heavy it is. When I first picked it up, it felt as light as a feather. I was dissapointed that previous reviews didn't include how long the charge lasts but unfortunately I don't know either because I've had it on for no longer than 20 minutes. It takes 8 hours to fully recharge. There are 3 lights on the handle to indicate how much charge is left. Unfortunately they only light up when you plug it in so you don't know how much charge is left while using it. It requires 30-35 hours of initial charge out of the box. It also has a small 3-bulbed utility light built in to its handle. It luminates white light (like HID in luxury cars) and supposedly will stay on for 250 hours on a single charge. But I haven't really tested it to see if true. The light is about as bright as a small pocket flashlight though. It's enough to use while changing a tire or reading a book. As long as it's not over 5 feet away. I actually ended up buying two of these, but not from Amazon. I found them at another online retailer for under $30. Don't know if I'm permitted to say where but their initials are H.A. This is the BEST and BRIGHTEST spotlight anyone would ever need. I recommend it 100%.

Most powerful light on you will find,

Wow! When you turn this spotlight on, it is incredible!
Keep in mind, though, the reason it is so powerful is dual headlights, so to speak. Two side by side lamps will always be more powerful. But, that ends up as a feature to go to one lamp to save power. You will also like the car lighter output socket, which allows external devices to be powered. Works well for camping trips.

OK - Needs better AC charger,
This review is from: Black and Decker VEC192 20 Million Power Series 3335 Lumens Spotlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
The unit works as described and is probably worth the cost. Unit seems to be of regular duty but I would not want to drop it as the replaceable battery makes the unit heavy. Unit is much larger than I expected, check the dimensions to assure they meet your needs.
Has two bulbs similar to car headlights and has a switch for each so you can use either or both. Also has about four white LEDs that will light a small inside area. (you could read a book with the unit 12" away) I am disapointed at the instructions about charging the battery first time as they say the GREEN light will come on when fully charged. There are 3 charging lights on the unit and when I first started to charge two of them came on when I pluged the charger in. The green light started to flash about 32 hours later and never was fully on, even after 40 hours of charging. (not recommended) I used the unit the next day with only one light on for about 25 minutes and it then required another 27 hours of charging to get the green light to start flashing slowly again. (The battery is a standard 7AH 12V sealed lead acid battery that is available at most auto shops, A decent charger could reduce this charge time drastically even though not recommended.) I did not use the unit until the battery ran down completely and it was still very bright after 25 minutes of use with one light on. Have tried both lights briefly but did not seem that much brighter inside. The four white LED's would probably run for days if not weeks before the battery ran down. Have not tried the unit on DC from my truck and would not even recommend the unit for that type of application. It might work great with an AC power supply that could provide 12V DC 30amps when using Both lamps. In Summary, It is Big and Heavy, Long Charging times, Provides Bright light inside a dark area, Three choices of brightness, Great portable light source but time dependent, replaceable lamps and battery, fairly robust in construction, Worth $80 price tag if it meets your application. All-in-All I do like the unit so far. I may like it better after I understand the internal battery charging better. That flashing green light is starting to suck as I have charged it for several more hours than they suggest and it still just flashes slowly. Perhaps it is just the instructions that are not correct. 'Amazon, how about providing your Customers with some more info/specs on this as this will be the major gripe, beside the free shipping...'

I needed something bright and strong enough to clearly show what's out in the bushes and what's up in the trees. (Fishers climb trees.) I live in a spot that's not extremely rural, but every now and then a stray wild animal comes around, and it's dark, here. At night, it can be hard to know if it's just the neighbor's cat or something potentially more threatening, if you can hear the rustling of the leaves and grass but not see what's there.
I am very happy with this light, and I've used it going between house and car several times in the dark. (So far, so good -- not too much to see!) I like that there's the lower-powered 'normal' light, too, above the floodlights, so that if I just need that, I've got it. Yes, this light is a bit heavy, but, then again, it's got some power behind it. And, it's not awkard to move around or use. the attachable strap can help, for one thing.

Most Powerful Flashlight in the World,
By
This review is from: Black and Decker VEC192 20 Million Power Series 3335 Lumens Spotlight (Tools & Home Improvement)
This flashlight is awesome! Sure, it's over 10lbs, but it's the brightest flashlight on the market and it can visibly light things up at over a mile away. And, according to some calculations that I did, it would be visible from over 300 miles away!! It'll only be as bright as a star at this distance, but nevertheless it will be visible. (I did these calculations by measuring the beam's spread angle, the total lumens in the beam, and the lux of a star).
Build quality is excellent. All parts of the body are durable, switches are built to last, and the shoulder strap has strong mounting points. With both beams turned on you can only get 20 minutes of runtime, but with just one beam on you can get upwards of 40 minutes. Also, there is a 3-LED light on the top of the handle which will last several days straight, and which is itself quite bright. One other really cool feature is that this flashlight acts as a 12-volt cigarette lighter outlet. So, if you need to power one of your car accessories somewhere other than in your car then you can plug it into this flashlight.

Pros
This thing puts out an ungodly amount of light. Cons Its big Its heavy It takes a long time to charge. the switches are not convenient( but I see why they designed it that way.) The Throw pattern is a little uneven. The pro outweighs the cons. Buy this light if you want the the brightest light on the block. |
