Under the old order of U.S. intelligence agencies, the FBI had America and the CIA had the world. From 1956 to 1971, the FBI reacted to social changes such as the Civil Rights Movement with a sweeping counter intelligence program, inelegantly dubbed COINTELPRO.
DECLASSIFIED opens up the archives of this questionable undertaking to see just who Hoover's G-Men viewed as potentially un-American.
