5.0 out of 5 stars I really like the holistic approach September 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If there is any book you need on decluttering, this is the one. Why? Because it takes you by the hand, explaining the reasons you clutter, the impact clutter has (the financial one really struck a chord with me), helping you draw up a plan and execute it in a way that is not stressful. Decluttering is healing -- that's why I love the holistic approach of this book. Clutter is so much more than physical stuff; it always has its origins in our mental state, reflecting on many areas of our lives.

This ebook is very well-written and contains a lot of gold nuggets from someone who is unafraid to share her personal trials and tribulations. I especially like the tips on organizing the home office and computer since these form more or less the nerve center of my home. Getting in touch with nature is a great tip, too. I like to go camping and every time I get home and look around the place, I think: why do I need all this stuff?

In short: this book has been and is still being a great help in decluttering my life, and not just my physical belongings. It helps reducing my stress and gives me a feeling of being in control. I look forward to more books from Michelle Stewart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Book For Simplifying Your Life September 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I wouldn't call myself a hoarder but I do have to admit that I'm a bit of a pack rat. Lately I've been focusing on getting rid of some of the things that I don't need in my life and this book was really helpful. I especially liked the part about clutter in your home and life having a "cost" and this cost can be in many forms. This part of the book was really eye opening to me.

I was surprised that this book even went into decluttering your mind which in turn helps to promote a less stressful life. I hadn't thought of this aspect before reading this book but it really makes a lot of sense.

I'm excited that after reading this book, I feel like I'm armed with some tips and techniques that will help me clean up my home and life so that I can live in a more harmonious world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much more than physical decluttering September 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've had difficulty cleaning my house for the past 3 years. I bought this book to learn some tips on decluttering to organize my home, but what I found, after reading some chapters, was a lot more than expected.

The author explains really well what is the psychology behind clutter. Unless you address it, clutter will eventually take over and cause feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed.

But Michelle not only talks about physical clutter in the book. She also talks about dealing with mental clutter, social clutter and media clutter. She's right: clutter is everywhere, not only in our homes, but in different areas of our lives, and we need to address each one of those to live life with less stress and to work with greater focus.

This was a great book indeed. Read this book before attempting to declutter you life, you won't be disappointed.

This was an interesting read, but she mainly discusses the concept of having less clutter. More practical or concrete instructions would have been nice, illustrations, etc. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars All of Michelle Stewart's books are light reads, but useful
Not earth shaking, but sensible. You are encouraged to make good choices, given the reasons for doing so and given examples of what works and what doesn't work from the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good points to remember
This was a good reminder of how easy it can be to declutter different spaces. It is a bit short, only took about 20 minutes to read. Still helpful though.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lacking ideas
The author did not give any practical ideas or steps on how to declutter, just reasons why you should. Ideas for different rooms in the house would be nice.
