Review

“John DeSalvo’s work is truly a significant contribution to our understanding of Dee and Kelley’s amazing experiences.” (Lon Milo DuQuette, author of Enochian Vision Magick)

“By all accounts, Dr. John Dee played a major role in world history, shaping politics, scientific thought, and occultism for centuries. The highly influential ‘Enochian’ system of magic originated in his ‘mystical experiments,’ of which he kept meticulous records. Yet the centerpiece of his system has never before been published--an enigmatic book that Dee clearly regarded as a monumental gift from God to humanity, communicated through his angels. John DeSalvo has done a wonderful job putting together all the pieces scattered throughout Dee’s manuscripts, including an accessible and systematic introduction. DeSalvo provides valuable suggestions for exploring the book, including meditations and spiritual exercises developed over his many years of investigating Dee’s published and unpublished works. Definitely recommended.” (Joseph Peterson, author of John Dee’s Five Books of Mystery)

“Scientist DeSalvo begins with a scholarly, yet understandable, discussion and comparison of the various Books of Enoch. (There is a substantial bibliography to back up the discussion.)” (Anna Jedrziewski, New Age Retailer, December 2010)

“. . . Decoding the Enochian Secrets is an important book for anyone serious about the study of Dee, his angels, and their magic.” (Joe Nolan, Disinformation.com, February 2011)

“John DeSalvo's passion for this topic comes through his writing as he explains some of the stories. . . he is well versed on this topic and his extended research shows through his words.” (Irene Watson, Reader Views, February 2011)

“. . . John DeSalvo will blow your mind with his meticulous research and attention to detail . . . you must own this book.” (TheMagicalBuffet.com, April 2011)

“. . . an intriguing, detailed and unique survey.” (Midwest Book Review, May 2011)

ANCIENT MYSTERIES / MAGIC

“John DeSalvo’s work is truly a significant contribution to our understanding of Dee and Kelley’s amazing experiences.”
--Lon Milo DuQuette, author of Enochian Vision Magick

Yet the centerpiece of his system has never before been published--a book that Dee clearly regarded as a monumental gift from God to humanity, communicated through his angels. --Joseph Peterson, author of John Dee’s Five Books of Mystery

Originally considered a vital part of inspirational literature used by the early church, the Book of Enoch never made it into the canon of accepted books of the Old Testament because of its strange and mysterious content about Enoch’s experiences in the higher realms, or heavens. The actual Book of Enoch, which is a set of almost 100 mystical tables, was given again to humankind in the 1580s, when it was conveyed directly by angels to Dr. John Dee, a 16th-century mathematician, scientist, occultist, and the astrologer of Queen Elizabeth I. Called “the most important book ever given to man by God” by Dee’s angelic messengers, the Book (or Tables) of Enoch is said to hold all the secrets of heaven and earth and the physical and spiritual realms.

Decoding the Enochian Secrets reproduces for the first time ever the exact and complete copy of these tables, which are housed in the British Library. The tables are in the handwriting of Dr. Dee and Edward Kelley, Dee’s assistant and scryer. Covering the history of this Book or Tables of Enoch, John DeSalvo explains the difference between these tables and the apocryphal Book of Enoch and examines how later magicians such as Aleister Crowley used them. Including Enochian Magic meditations and rituals and a reconstruction of the possible 49th missing Table of Enoch, Decoding the Enochian Secrets presents the source text to the most powerful form of magic known to mankind.

JOHN DESALVO holds a Ph.D. in biophysics and, for more than 20 years, scientifically studied the Shroud of Turin. The current director of the Great Pyramid of Giza Research Association, he is the author of 6 books, including The Lost Art of Enochian Magic. He lives in Minnesota.

More About the Author

John DeSalvo, Ph.D., is director of the Great Pyramid of Giza Research Association. His purpose in starting this association was to make available to the public general information and new research on the Great Pyramid. He was the spokesperson in the West for the Russian pyramid research, which demonstrated the beneficial results--on both animate and inanimate objects--of the energy generated by the large pyramids they built.

A former college professor and administrator, DeSalvo's B.S. degree is in physics, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees are in biophysics. He has taught the following subjects on the college level: human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, general biology, human gross anatomy, and neurophysiology. His college administrative experience includes cultural affairs director, basic science department head, and dean of student affairs.

In 1979 DeSalvo coauthored the book Human Anatomy--A Study Guide (currently out of print) with Dr. Stanley Stolpe, former head of the Anatomy Department at the University of Illinois. His publi- cations in scientific journals include research on the infrared system of rattlesnakes ("Spatial Properties of Primary Infrared Neurons in Crotalidae"). He was also a recipient of research grants and fellowships from the National Science Foundation, United States Public Health and Human Services, and the National Institutes of Health.

For more than thirty years, John DeSalvo was one of the scientists involved in studying the Shroud of Turin. Currently, he is executive vice president of ASSIST (Association of Scientists and Scholars International for the Shroud of Turin), which is the largest and oldest research associa- tion in the world currently studying the Shroud. He was also a research consultant to the original STURP (Shroud of Turin Research Project) team and was the contributing science editor for the book SINDON--A Layman's Guide to the Shroud of Turin (published in 1982, currently out of print). His Shroud research involved the image formation process of the man on the Shroud and studies using three-dimensional reconstruc- tion, spectroscopic, and ultraviolet analysis. He has lectured nationwide on the Shroud, and in 1980 the International Platform Association desig- nated him as one of the top thirty speakers in the nation.

He published The Complete Pyramid Sourcebook in 2003 and Andrew Jackson Davis: The First American Prophet and Clairvoyant in 2005. His book Decoding the Pyramids was published by Barnes and Noble in May 2008 and has been translated into French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Czech. In October 2008 his book The Seeress of Prevorst: Her Secret Language and Prophecies from the Spirit World was published by Inner Traditions. His book Dead Sea Scrolls was pub- lished by Barnes and Noble in July 2009 and is also available in French, Dutch, Spanish, and German.

Destiny Books, an imprint of Inner Traditions, has published three books of DeSalvo's: The Lost Art of Enochian Magic (2010), featur- ing a CD of DeSalvo pronouncing the Enochian Calls; Decoding the Enochian Secrets (2011) and Power Crystals (2012).

The author is frequently seen on the History Channel in the two series: Ancient Aliens and Nostradamus Effect, and appeared on America Unearthed in 2014 discussing the Lincoln Assassination. He has given more than one hundred television and radio interviews and press con- ferences including frequent appearances on Coast to Coast with George Noory. He currently co-hosts a radio show with California DJ and Fox News regular Jaimee Lee.

Let me first say, I own about 95% of the books in print on Enochian Magic, and have been practicing for many years.
I was quite excited when reading the author's previous book when he promised reveal the 'true' Book of Enoch for the first time in this present volume.
And I must say, I'm a bit disappointed.

The 'revelation' is a series of low resolution pictures of John Dee's manuscripts!
Without a high powered magnifying glass, the scans provided are largely useless; if you want to see what Dee's manuscripts look like, you can see them for free and in much higher quality here: [...]

HOWEVER

For Enochian theoreticians and purists like myself, the content of the first part of the book is still valuable, such as comparing the apocryphal Book of Enoch to the tables John Dee received; as is reading the author's argument for his particular layout of the tables.
So if you are *serious* about Enochian this book is valuable; if you aren't, go look at the scans linked above (you'll need to anyway, if you want to understand what the Author is describing!)

The best thing about this book are the photocopies of Dr. John Dee's journals where he recorded the messages received by Edward Kelly. Even though the reproductions are of marginal quality, with a good magnifying glass much of the writing can be seen. Of course Dee's writing is difficult to make out, especially as he switches between English, Hebrew, Latin and Enochian.

As for the rest of the book it's content is thin and somewhat fanciful in places. A far superior presentation of the Enochian language is provided by Aaron Leitch's two vol. "The Angelical Language" published by Llewellyn Publications, Woodbury, Minnesota. This work is an exhaustive lexicon of the Enochian language as presented in Dee's journals.

If you are interested in a close examination of Dee and Kelly's work with the angels, I recommend "John Dee's Five Books of Mystery" edited by Joseph H. Peterson, publisher Weiser. Peterson provides a line-by-line analysis in modern typeface of the detailed description of Kelly's interactions with the angels.

I bought this book because I really enjoyed his first one and thought this one would expand on it. It doesn't. It also promises "directions for powerful magic rituals and meditations using these tables". The only meditation/ritual included is the one from the last book. I guess if you're a hard-core Enochian Magician, the hard-to-read-without-a-magnifying-glass leafs and tables will be of interest. I wish I would have skipped this one and bought an Enochian dictionary instead.

The book did not provide any new information, and even refers back to the author's original book, on the same subject, for clarification. Two thirds of the book is comprized of Enochian Tablets that are too small and dark to read.

This book promises a lot but delivers very little. After reading this author's previous book I expected a lot of redundant (to me) theory, but I also expected more practical information. The book does, after all, promise more practices.

Unfortunately, the only practice in the book is the same one that was provided in the first book. He does provide some interesting theoretical information -- again, information that is useful for beginners. There is also some interesting discussion about the Tables and their history. The Tables, of course, are completely copied.

Unfortunately, unless you are a beginner and know nothing about Enochian, this book won;t be of much help. If you have already read the first book, this book is pretty useless.

In fact, I wouldn't even recommend this book for beginners. Beginners would benefit most from this author's first book, though if you are a beginner there are plenty of other books that will be more helpful.

I do *not* recommend this book. Anyone buying it would be wasting their money in my opinion.

should have stayed lost... unless you have a penchant for Aramaic and Enochian phrases. Isn't there a hotline to heaven? I'm trying to think of something good to write about this book, okay, the font was easy to read... there.

Book gave a lot of informative information but was difficult to understand at times. Wouldn't recommend this book but if you want to read it, it's your choice.
