Fascinating Facts & Architectural Wonder,
By Bruce Bain "Romans 9:33/Remember Jackie Robinson" (Englewood, CO United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Decoding the Great Pyramid (Paperback)
One of the most ancient of all buildings, and a geometrical wonder, is the subject of "Great Pyramid Decoded" by Lemesurier. The author builds upon the research of other, older collections of data. The book just may stun you. Clearly, some readers are left a bit confused by the sheer volume, the enormity, of techological, mathematical, and astronomical references. The encyclopedic nature of Lemesurier's text requires that one not attempt to simply "read-straight-through" as though it were a popular novel. The scope of the book, including the relationship of the Great Pyramid's architecture and geometrical measurement, demand that the reader of this subject SELECTIVELY move through the information. One need not subscribe to ideas of INITIATE, or PROPHECY in order to appreciate the book, but the reader certainly may need to set these ideas aside, to absorb the basic facts first. Lemesurier tells us, for example, the following information: 1. The Great Pyramid is a building so enormous and perfect that its construction today would tax the skills of our technology, almost to the breaking point. 2. That the outer Casing Stones of polished limestone (which were stripped by later people) was levelled and honed to the accuracy of modern optical work 3. The Pyramid was built, to all evidences, before the discovery of the magnetic COMPASS, yet it it perfectly oriented in its North-to-South Axis, with only a 5 minute (1/12th of a degree) error from true North-South, and the existing error was likely the result of a shift in the Earth's Axis since the Pyramid was built. 4. Conventional archaelogists tell us the Pyramid was a funerary tomb built for and by Khufu; yet no Pharoah in history was ever buried high "above ground". 5. The Pyramid of Giza is sited on the longest "land-contact" meridian of the earth's surface. 6. The standard unit of measure for the Great Pyramid is one ten millionth of the earth's MEAN POLAR RADIUS, or 365.242 which is also the numerical equivalent to the number of days in the Solar Tropical Year. 7. The Foundation Sockets still remain, permitting accurate measurement of the pyramid. 8. Each face of the Pyramid of Gizeh is a 1/5th scale model of the Pyramid's cross section, yielding the LENGTH of the BASE SIDE, and the HEIGHTH. 9. Some of the pyramid stones were as large as 70 Tons each, yet the builders were able to join them with cemented joints les than 1/50th of an inch thick, and some of those stones had a vertical area measuring 5 feet by 7 feet. ( a rather tight squeeze for cement!) I find it a fascinating book, and again, as long as the reader does not attempt to swallow it whole, like some kind of giant horse pill, the book is a perhaps the most interesting book on the market today. The prophetic and cosmological references can be set aside at first, allowing the study of the pyramid architecture itself to help us understand the purpose of its builders, if indeed, there was a message conveyed for future generations.

Initiates and the Great Pyramid,

This review is from: Decoding the Great Pyramid (Hardcover)
Peter Lemesurier has written a book that many, if not most, people have neither the interest nor the foundational knowledge to follow (as represented by the previous reviews). His research is based on what the American Seer, Edgar Cayce, stated was the purpose of the Pyramid, not as a tomb for some vainglorious pharoah, but instead the most sophisticated building ever created, one containing very complex mathematical codes that described not only the earth itself, but implicitly containing references to an extremely sophisticated civilization that built it. Of all the books in my library, this is one of my favorite two, since its scope is so vast, its meaning so pregnant (for initiates anyway)...see Appendix A, 'The Messianic Plan' if you're interested in a truly 'Cosmic' role of the Christ and how the Pyramid fits into it.This book is obviously not for everyone and, as Cayce himself stated, understanding the purpose of the Pyramid, Sphinx and (yet to be found)"Hall of Records" can be understood "only by an initiate". Since our culture has not a clue as to what an initiate could possibly be, the preparatory and foundational work in consciousness that are prerequisites to appreciate and understand what the pyramid is about,it is not unreasonable that such a gem of a book as this is given only one star by 'the uninitiated'. No matter. If you are a 'seeker', then even if the entire book seems daunting, may I suggest that you begin with the first chapter and Appendix I, as well as the many beautiful pictures and drawings this book contains. Afterwards, for years, like some fine wine, you will begin to savour the scope of Lemeursieur's work...a magical, important and sublime description of what was and is yet to be. To others perhaps, this book is just about a pile of rocks. Too bad. Peter's message that the Great Pyramid is a statement on the necessity of us all beginning on the 'path of the Christ', or to forever find ourselves at the bottom of the 'dead end' passage in the earth (pyramid), and which now appears to be playing itself our once again in the human condition. If your soul seeks, there are elegaic truths here, contained in the stone, and in his words. Tom Lawson, Ph.D.

Opening new doors,
By Williwaw (NYC, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Decoding the Great Pyramid (Paperback)
If one were to base his/her decision on the previous two customers reviews of this book they might clearly miss out on a very interesting read. The author opens doors that have been known to some for a great many years, and anyone that knows anything about the origin of religion would certainly want to contemplate this book further. The author does write in a tedious and often redundant manner, however with subject matter such as this being careful is important. To address this book as a mere outlet for a crazed religious lunatic is an ignorant arguement, and is in my opinion perpetuated by even more ignorant readers such as two of the reviewers previous. Take note that some of what is written in this book sounds far fetched, and if you are prepared to understand the true teachings involved, or willing to go out of the boundaries of mainstream illogical thought, then this book is not for you. It requires intelligence and a willingness to follow up on the points made by the author and seek further knowledge about the subject matter. If you are the kind of person that enjoys learning about the Great Pyramid and are of an open mind, you will no doubt find this book useful, if not for the bibliography alone.

Well assembled, but tiresome reading,

This review is from: Decoding the Great Pyramid (Paperback)
The author has done a great job putting together historical ideas related to the Great Pyramid. However, the book rambles too much with so many mythological examples. The tables drone on and on, and the reader is left wondering where he has been and where he is going. The text would be better if it had focused only on decoding the Great Pyramid, and not trying to address every ancient symbolism that came to the author's mind. There are so many sidebars that you aren't sure what to read as you turn each page. I was looking for a book that gave me the facts, drawings, figures and historical data about the pyramid itself. This book's predisposition is mostly mythological. In the book, the appendices are the best part for the text. The book does not have a lot of photos concerning the pyramid, but it does have many drawings, illustrations and tables.

Tedious reading that leaves you unfullfilled...,
By Junky "joe_joe_" (Santa Monica, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Decoding the Great Pyramid (Paperback)
Prepare to get buried over your head in religion, mathematics, far-fetched theories, and tedious reading. The author is obviously a religious wacko, albeit an educated one (judging by his complex sentence structures). The overall message of this book is that the mathematical dimensions of the pyramid chambers and hallways represent a prophesy of future events. Like the previous reviewer I became disenchanted by the book and decided to not to completely pollute my mind with this author's fantasy. I hoped to read an in depth book about how the pyramids were built, as well as exploration into more realistic theories about why the pyramids were built. Unless you are studying for your master's thesis on the pyramids I would avoid this book.

decoding the great pyramid,
By A Customer
This review is from: Decoding the Great Pyramid (Paperback)
This hardcover book was expensive to manufacture with great artwork and high quality paper and large dimension. What a pity that the author had to stretch so far in his numerological fantasies while attempting to associate subjective and mythological meanings to the various pyramid dimensions. From this viewpoint the book was a huge disappointment and I was unable to acquire sufficient motivation to completely read the book. |
