Decoding the Tomb, one of Bucket's best.,
By B. T. "Slim2N1" (Port Saint Lucie, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Decoding the Tomb Bansheebot (Audio CD)
Having discovered Buckethead only a few months ago, I have found myself working my way through his material (all that I can get) to the point that I now have more of his albums than any other artist's I own. Acquiring (some of it I actually got for free, legally) Bucket's music is akin to mining for precious stones. You really have to sift through some rather worthless (sorry, for lack of a better term)stuff to come up with the gems. Decoding the Tomb is definitly one of those gems. I have been listening to it almost exclusively (and I have close to two thousand albums) for the last two weeks. Prior to this I was hooked on "Peppers Ghost" a great album in it's own right, but I think this may be even better. The song "Sail on Soothsayer" has so much emotion in it I find myself just getting lost in the music altogether. Contrast that to my thoughts on the album "Cyborg Slunks" which I find almost unlistenable,(except for the song "Aunt Suzie") and you will understand my mining analogy. If you are new to Buckethead this may not be the best place to start, I might recommend "Monsters and Robots", "Electric Tears" or "Colma" (ho-hum, the usual recommendations). If you are familiar with Bucket and you enjoy his untraditional style then you will love this album I'm sure. One of his best!

Solid Buckethead,

This review is from: Decoding the Tomb Bansheebot (Audio CD)
Buckethead has produced a solid album. Completely in the Buckethead style although different. It's not as eccentric as some of this other albums but is almost an amalgam of everything he's done to date. The songs seem more balanced between the incidental effects and the melodic/rythmic components.Very good album. Very listen able album. This may be the album that gets non-fans on board and appreciate his uniqueness and inventiveness.
