Items arrived well packaged. Seams are joined smoothly without excess bonding material. Surface is highly polished without any scratches. Test cold claim by removing soda can from fridge. Tested with professional mercury bulb thermometer. Soda in can measured 44 degrees. Poured soda into Freezer Mug. +10 minutes = 33 degrees. +20 minutes = 28 deg. +30 min = 26 deg. Mug held 26 degrees for 1 hour. That's good enough. If you haven't finished your beverage in and hour...you're not paying attention! As far as I'm concerned, this product performs as promised and is quality construction.
UPDATE: After using the mugs, washing them daily and storing them in the freezer for more than a week, they are working BETTER!! These mugs are now actually forming a layer of ice against the inside when beverage is added.

I have used these mugs for several years. A while back they pulled this plain type of crystal freezer mug off the market and you could only get ones with sports logos at two to three times the price. One thing to pay attention to is make sure it is placed in the freezer upside down so that the contents have room to expand as they freeze. Placing them right side up will result in cracking and rendering them useless. This mug is sturdier than the acrylic ones on the market. Beverages stay cold for well over an hour. If you add several ice cubes to the frozen mug, it will actually freeze the contents.

Can't be left in freezer. After 4 hour in the freezer, upside down as per recommended, it didn't do the job. I read some people's review mentioning could beer could get slushy (of course none of us, beer fans, want that). Well, I just can't see that happening. I gave it to my son, so he can have some cold sodas with style.

UPDATE.

I was very skeptical with most reviews saying mug broke but bought it anyway. I decided to leave this mug in the freezer and for my surprise, it didn't break.

So, here is what I think may have happened to other customers whose mugs broke: I think they didn't observe to put mug UPSIDE down, which causes the gel to distribute evenly in the between walls of the mug. If you don't observe this detail the quantity of gel sitting in the bottom of mug gets too thick when freezes, thus breaking the mug.

My mug has been in the freezer for 6 days so far.

What I also noticed is that if you pour a very cold beer (40 F - 4C), beer may crystalize on the walls. However, if you used it a lot you will get used to cool your beer accordingly. This is totally worth it because your beer will be cold for much longer period.

The real downside is that after having your first beer, mug may not be able to keep another round. So, you should consider buy a few of them.

I originally order several types of freezer mugs for a family member but didn't have high expectations as most of them dont really keep stuff cold enough to replace ice cubes. I was amazed at the Decodyne freezer mug though! It turns even a warm can of soda into a slushie within minutes & keeps it cold cold long enough for you to add more if you want & im a slow drinker!! We liked them so much that ive purchased 9 more of these cups to date & bought some for others. The Decodyne freezer mugs & freezer tumblers- Any size any color even the honey comb tumblers- are amazing especially if you live in an area that gets hot like I do.

These plastic mugs are the best. They keep most beverages icy cold and actually cause a slurry of ice at the bottom of mug while drinking. Holds a full can of soda or beer with last sip just as cold as first. In fact you can drink about three beverages in a row without losing any of the cold. When done, simply wash out with soap and water, turn upside down and store in freezer. The material in this double-walled vessel is then evenly distributed around the sides and bottom of the mug for next use. Different color trim is available to help distinguish Tom's from Mary's drink. Great for poolside as the BPA-free plastic is not breakable. Simply the best mugs for the money in our experience.

Cools the drink, yes. But the base traps the condensation as it runs off of the mug and then when you lift the mug to drink it dribbles on you, your book, your keyboard, or whatever. So, OK if you are by the pool or somewhere where a a dibble doesn't matter; but not what you want if you are reading a good book, working at your computer, etc.

Bought 4 of these for $10 each in July, 2014. One arrived broken and was returned for a refund. Another one cracked within a month and had to be discarded. 6 months later we have 1 left. We do not abuse these glasses; they are hand washed, stored in the freezer according to the instructions that came with them, yet all but one has cracked the length of the glass due to expansion/contraction. Definitely not worth the money.
