5.0 out of 5 stars This is THE year for the Binary Star collective!, August 22, 2007
This review is from: Decomposition (Audio CD)
For the uninitiated, Binary Star (One Many Army [aka. One Be Lo], Senim Silla & Decompoze) released the album "Waterworld" back in 1999, and was later remixed and re-released in 2000 under the name "Masters Of The Universe". The album received high praise from critics and fans alike, and is rightly considered a classic. Not until 2005 would One Be Lo drop his breathtaking debut "S.O.N.O.G.R.A.M.". Now in 2007, were are treated with Senim Silla's solo debut "The Name, The Motto, The Outcome" (classic!), Decompoze's "Decomposition" and the follow-up to One Be Lo's debut to be released later this year. Now on to Decompoze...

On the Binary Star LP, 2 of my favorite joints were "Fellowship" and "Indy 500" (also seen here as the last track). Even back then I felt that Decompoze was just as ill and talented as Lo and Silla. As the main producer on "Waterworld"/"Masters Of The Universe", Decompoze provided much of the musical vision for that album. Along with the ability to produce excellent soundscapes, he can also write and spit conscious lyrics with the best in the industry.

"Lap 2" starts off the mix with some killer lyrics from Decompoze and One Be Lo, signifying why the Subterraneous Records is a force to be reckoned with. "Mica (Phone Check)" continues the chillness with some personal lyrics about his love life. "Same Song" is an introspective interlude that discusses the ill-fated state of hip-hop. "All Out" featuring 1997 Scribble Jam battle winner Juice, Invincible, Magestik Legend, One Be Lo & Elzhi is a DOPE posse track! "Take A Stand" featuring Kodac, may be my favorite joint here. Insightful lyrics and a Wu-Tang-esque piano loop makes it shine. Other standouts include the protest message of "Heart Of The Matter", the soul flavored splendor of "React" featuring Zhao-Ski, "We Over Here" featuring Octane, Illite & One Be Lo, & "Freakin Flo's" also featuring One Be Lo.

Overall, Decompoze created an album that I always knew he was capable of. He brings more to the table than I thought he would, and this album will stand the test of time. If you have yet to discover the dynamic trio of Binary Star, this serves as a wake-up call to all the sleepy heads out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have!!, March 3, 2009
This review is from: Decomposition (Audio CD)
Known long ago for his production work with One Be Lo and Semin Silla on M.O.T.U. (Masters of the Universe), Decompoze now bridges the gap between producer and MC to bring us one of the most inspirational album to hit the scene in a long time. Although there are some featurings, the majority of the album consists of only Decompoze, which is anything but a bad thing. The production work is amazing, and lyrically, there aren't too many that can touch Decompoze. The only shame is that he waited this long to drop a damn album. An essential for any hip-=hop collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best underground album heard in a long time, July 5, 2008
By
This review is from: Decomposition (Audio CD)
Decompoze - Decomposition: I'd never heard the album just knew the Binary Star stuff. This is one of those gems. Decompoze is the best underground Hip Hop I've heard to date. Production is good quality and his flows are conscious, wicked feature artists. You'll be into the album off one listen. True Hip Hop at its finest.
